This is one beautiful stout with a blackness and hazy, mystic look that is really cool. Aroma has a heavy dark chocolate/coffee mix with some currant and a very intense nose that has some alcohol, but not too much. Flavor is a powerful roasty, dark-chocolate mix that combines the cocoa with some heavily roasted coffee and dark fruits. Alcohol is present, but it warms rather than taking away from the wonderful flavor. Mouthfeel was nearly a 5, but this is a well put together Imperial Stout no matter how you look at it. Awesome brew. SuperDave70 (1320), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA

Super dark brown/black color pour with a foamy brown head. Nice aroma of roasty malt, chocolate, molasses and coffee. Flavor is deep and complex, including all of the above and a nice touch of hops. Really great brew. Nice to see this coming from an AZ brewer! Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA

I was a little worried about this one when the cap popped with nary a sound, but all of those fears were gone once I saw how beautifully this beer poured out. Black as night, dark mocha colored head, two fingers thick and nice retention. Resolves to a layer of craggy bubbles and leaves thick coats of sheet lacing on the sides of the glass. Nose is impressive, chalky chocolate and coffee beans, licorice, peppery leathery spice, and dark, charred malts. Fore is semi astringent, creamy, full of chocolate and coffee, with a leather and licorice backing. Full bodied, creamy and substantial. Astringency builds on the back end of the palate, welling up with each sip. Very warming as the ABV washes over you, especially considering the generous bomber of this elixir that Craig sent me. Licorice and black pepper build on the back end as well, creating a nice spiciness that works really well with the other parts of the beer. Outstanding. wetherel (1775), Encinitas, California, USA

Had the growler sitting in the back of my refrigerator for two weeks before opening it at fordest’s tasting. Tried at fordest’s tasting with ibrew2or3, fordest, padrefan98, toncatcher, and others.
The growler was filled to the rim, and tightly capped and wrapped extensively with electrical tape. The beer still had plenty of carbonation, but a beer like this doesn’t need any. Heavy body and pitch black color with small bubble 1 finger tan head. Caramel sweet roasty malty goodness. Very delicious. hellbilly (1643), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

it’s confirmed... this is better than dark lord AND darkness. so, neener! Rusty (1122), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Pours a nice dark brownish black with a decent sized brown head. Aroma is malt, hops, barley, molasses. Flavor is hops, barley, coffee, chocolate malt. Alcohol is well hidden and beer has a nice creamy mouthfeel. Great stout, thanks Josh! daknole (3401), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 13, 2007 A growler from Skyview. Black color with a medium head. Roasty aroma with a hint of something almost minty. Lots of characteristics like a fine sweet/oatmeal stout: strong milk, coffee, toffee and oatmeal. A little roasted malt in the finish. Definitely more of an oatmeal stout, though maybe an Imperial Oatmeal Stout.
