| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 5, 2008 Deep dark red colored with little light brown head. Rich chocolaty-caramelly aroma with some winous note, rich fruits with pear also here, good one. Medium bodied. Flavor is also rich with chocolate and nuts, somehow artificial touch with still this positive wine note. Aftertaste lasts with nuts and drying hops, I like this brewery. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 13, 2008 Quite a light-bodied, mild-like dunkel. Clear chesnut with a beige collar. Slightly farty vegetal nutty malz aroma, marzipan as it warms, hint of Marmite. Crumbled biscuit, mostly nutty malt, some marzipan. Tastes a bit like a slightly gravyish, caramelised tinned supermarket bitter. In a good way. Same herbally, hopfig background as the helles, but much less so. ¾ (5101), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 7, 2008 Draft at Unionsbrau in Munich. Clear dark cola colored body. Nose is semi-sweet bread crust and maple smoked malt. Some light meaty notes as well, but overall fairly clean in the nose. Medium body, high carbonation, spritzy at times, tasting a little bit of sweetened charred malts, toast and maple, even with some roast in the finish. Good stuff, different than typical dunkel, if there is such a thing as typical dunkel.
