UPDATED: AUG 21, 2020 Better than many beers... it should be called a fruit beer though.. Not over artificial... but still very sweet and not beer like.

From old tasting notes. Deep reddish brown color. Rocky tan head. Sweet roasted caramel malt nose. Bittersweet roasted malt flavor. Hints at currants and port wine. Dry spicy hop finish.

liked this less than the black version. not much going on. light fruitiness and hops but more cardboard than I usually care for. Meh...

12oz bottle (Old Notes-Dixie Brewing New Orleans)-Pours a medium amber with a small head. Aroma of malt and slight caramel. Taste of the same with some dried fruit. This light bodied brew is nothing to write home about.

Vballnbeer (158) - Gorham, Maine, USA - JUL 8, 2013
When I purchased this I was hoping for a more malty version of the standard Dixie, with the same smoothness. It didn’t really live up to my expectations and is really not very different from the original except that it seems to be hopped up a little more. The extra bitterness needs a little bigger base to go with it, so it is a miss for me.

Metalchopz (7129) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - APR 15, 2012
Originally rated September 2004. Read bad things about this beer. Poured a hazy copper-red colour with a quick dissipating head. Not much carbonation. Had aromas of sweet malts, apples and hints of vinegar. The mouth was of caramels with a dry aftertaste. Flat mouthfeel. I actually enjoyed this one, even after the bad hype.

Gift from my Wisconsin hook up. Thanks Jamie. Ehh average at best. Thin for my taste. Mild hop some smoke.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Sweeter lagered notes, a light toffee character and a dry sweet bitter finish. Eh.

BeerGestapo (754) - Mt.Joy, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 19, 2009
Brewed in the USA...... Pours a reddish brown color with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malts, bread and caramel. Taste is of malts, grains, fruit and caramel. Mouthfeel is this thin, dry, but drinkable. Not very exciting !!! But the label is kind of cool.

malty dark lager that tastes muddled artificially sweet and somewhat malty. there is a beer component i suppose with a trace amount of hops distinguishable by the learned.
