COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Da Grind Buzz Kona Coffee Imperial Stout is an assertive, rich and hearty dark stout complemented by freshly roasted 100 percent Kona coffee. The stout style is a Russian Imperial stout, historically brewed strong to survive its long voyage from London to the Baltic region. Course ground dark roast 100 percent pure Kona coffee beans were added to the brew during the aging process. The beans were grown and harvested by Cornwell Estate in Holualoa. The brewers were able to watch freshly harvested beans being roasted before transporting them to the brewhouse and adding them to the batch. The beer will be served on nitrogen, giving a smooth, creamy mouth-feel that complements the roasted coffee flavor.

Inky, medium khaki head. Very nice, nutty, chickory aroma. Flavor is all coffee and was a little disappointing on the heels of the aroma. Some creosote. Mouthy. On tap, St George Island Brewfest with LuckyDog.

Growler from Vine & Barley in Port St Lucie. Big espresso. Sweet cocoa. Caramel. This is richly roasty and quite raw. So much espresso that it is a touch peppery. 14.4

Draft at Koko Marina. Opaque maroon brown color, massive tan head with good retention and sold lacing. Aroma of earthy coffee grounds. Taste has tons of earthy coffee, but it retains its beery characteristics and body. Nice.

On tap @ the brewery in Kona, with an abridged monicker of simply "Kona Coffee Imperial Stout". Nearly black, thin tan head. Rich, intense coffee aroma and flavour backed by hearty malt structure. Very tasty.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2014 A deep dark stout with a thin brown mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with kona coffee, vanilla, alcohol warmth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with coffee grind, resinous quality, alcohol warmth, loads of coffee, very nice. On tap at Koko location.

Velvety tan head on the pour. Aroma is rich coffee, soft chocolate, and roasted malt. Taste is dominated by clean, powerful coffee followed by roasted malt and subtle bitter hops on the back. Exceptionally smooth feel in the mouth. Very enjoyable coffee imperial stout - shame it’s not bottled.

On tap Da Grind pours a murky black producing a moderate tan head which left little lacing. Smells of coffee of course mixed with roasted malts plus hints of semisweet chocolate. The mouth feel is good partly due to the nice carbination. Tastes closely follows the aromas but there is a somewhat disappointing metallic aftertaste. Overall, an above average imperial stout.

Served on tap at the Kona Marina Brewpub. The appearance is a deep night black with a good sized creamy light brown head. The aromas are full of rich heavy roasted dark roasted Kona coffee and rich with maltiness. The flavors are more of the same. The rich coffee with definitely on a sweeter side with some lactose sugars in there. Heavy roasted malt bill. The mouth is full bodied and nicely creamy. Great brew that I am glad to run into in HI finally.
