Svesse (14167) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - MAY 20, 2015
(Bottle) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, smoky nose with notes of crisp-bread, treacle toffee, brown sugar, hints of chocolate and rich smoke aromas. Malty, smoky taste with caramel, crisp-bread, chocolate, brown sugar, smoked ham and a gentle spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well balanced with a rich, but mellow smoke character. Quite nice.

On tap at The Bishops Arms Bellmansgatan, Stockholm, april 17th 2014. Clear amber body with a small white head. Aroma of toffee, walnut, and light bonfire note. Taste is light smoked with caramel, tar, hints of smoke and wood. Very easy on the whole smoke thing this beer, it’s an interesting one but I’d like a more defined taste.

330ml bottle. Pours a brilliant deep copper, with an off-white head. Malty, smoky aroma, caramel, cured meat, earth, leather. Dry, medium body and bitterness, slightly low CO2. Malty, smoky taste, caramel, hops, leather, apricot, hints of licorice. Quite well made and balanced, a little held back for the style, but that is most likely a conscious choice of the brewer. Nice. (Bottle). Tart and smoky aroma. Taste of malt, sour smoke and a little caramel, unfortunately unbalanced and a little watery. Not a bad beer but a little ambivalent and boring!
