| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 20, 2009 750, corked and caged. Pours a cloudy burnished medium amber with a dense, creamy, slightly sudsy tan head. Caramelly, slightly toffeeish nose with very rich notes of real butter cream. Not diacetyl butter--butter cream. Smells like some sort of insanely decadent pecan pastry. Not cloying, though, and, unfortunately, not quite dimensional enough to qualify as an exceptionally aromatic nose. Creamy medium body, very subdued carb. Caramel, cream, pecans, and a bit of toffee on the mid-palate, mild pastryish finish. Tasty, very holidayish, and something I would gladly serve to family and friends around a big ol’ turkey and ham. But not one that will haunt my dreams with memories of biere de garde pleasures. presario (3084), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 14, 2009 Bottle. Dark amber. Thick head. Aroma is Biere de Garde cubed! Big caramel and hazelnut. Thick hazelnut, caramel and vanilla flavour with a lightly harsh candy finish. Intriguing Biere de Garde toffee candy effect. Take a bag home for Grandma. beerbuzzmontreal (3034), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 17, 2004 Ruby color, thick, frothy white head. Cinnamon aroma, maybe cranberries too. Flavor of cinnamon, malt and alcohol. Light to medium body, liquorous texture. It’s good but I have higher expectations for a "bière de Noël". thebeertourist (3015), Oslo, Norway
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2009 Aged bottle (best before 1993?) at Den Stillen Genieter. Red colour, lots of sediment, small tan head. Cellar and fruit aroma. Dry, dusty flavours with port and fruit in the background. Body has become lighter with the years. A classic that ages well. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 27, 2004 Caramel, candied malt, and toffee in the aroma, russett, pours a huge, billowy, tan head, some fine lace. Malt, almonds, red plums, and apple butter flavours. Complex, bitter, softly sweet, quite warming. The sweetest example of the style, I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying! skortila (2975), Baarn, Netherlands
