COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle and can: Filtered "IPA" Bold, resinous and bursting with bright grapefruit aroma, this IPA is a tribute to the decades of hard work by conservationists to restore the James River as a bounty of vibrant aquatic life, eco-friendly recreational activity, and in our case, fresh brewing water. These efforts have culminated recently with the symbolic return of the endangered Atlantic sturgeon, a prehistoric, yet majestic behemoth of a fish, spotted as far up the James River as the fall line in Richmond. Original Gravity (O.G.): 1.070 Strength (ABV): 7.5 % ABV Color (SRM): 12 °L Bitterness (IBU): 70 IBUs Availability: Fall First release date: October 2013

nearbeer (8328) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 15, 2023
UPDATED: SEP 15, 2023 Six pack of stubby 12 ounce bottles with no date stamp evident. Pours mostly clear, brassy-golden with a lasting quarter inch head. Aroma has citrus zest, yeast, pine resin, caramel and toasted grain. Tastes of the same with more resinous herb and peppery citrus pith on the finish. Smooth medium carbonation and medium body. Easy drinking balance with a dry, mildly astringent finish. Purchased at a Sheetz in Wytheville. Nice new-old school AIPA.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2023 5/29/23 - Alexandria, Va - Trader Joe's - 16 oz can. Foggy, medium gold, frothy snow-white head, light lacing. Spruce aroma with some orange marmalade accents. Tangy flavor, grapefruit bitterness, caramel sweetness, some orange marmalade fruitiness. Thick, rich mouthfeel.

JaimeZX (59) - - MAY 7, 2023
UPDATED: MAY 7, 2023 7 May 23 Color - Medium amber, like a beer should be! Head - Yellowish white, medium. Nose - Traditional IPA nose... piney hop with a hint of grapefruit Taste - Like it smells. Medium mouthfeel. Nicely balanced; hint of bread and a little bitterness on the finish, like grapefruit pith. Classic stereotypical IPA. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing special. Very satisfying. 7.5% Singleton from Trader Joe's (NN)

ronaldtheriot (2692) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - AUG 23, 2022
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2022 Great Return has a thick, ivory head and a translucent orange appearance, with heavy lacing. The aroma is of herbal, spiced white bread. The flavor is similar, with strong bitterness. Great Return has a medium body and a dry finish. RJT

nuplastikk (9841) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 27, 2022
UPDATED: JUN 27, 2022 12oz bottle from the brewery. Just what I was hoping it would be: a nice, crisp, clean , well brewed American IPA. Easy drinking and refreshing for the ABV. Floral, citrus, mild bitterness. Mellow toffee touched malt tone. Great balance. Solid.

notalush (7123) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 13, 2022
UPDATED: APR 13, 2022 Bottle - lightly hazy gold with a soapy head/lace - super dry and peppery - despite the dryness, there is a distinct berry undertone to the flavor - quite bitter, aromatic, botanical - reminiscent of a dry gin - it’s actually really nice to see a super dry, super bitter IPA on the market - so many now are too sweet and/or lacking balance - I actually think this is an excellent example of a dry American ipa.

yann28 (2714) - - MAR 5, 2021

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2020 19/9/2020. Bottle at the Prague GP bottle-share, courtesy of SHIG. Pours clear pale amber with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of citrus, peach, pine, malt and caramel. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation. Bitter piney finish. Quite decent.

GarrettB (2459) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 4, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 4, 2020 April 8th, 2016 - The Great Return comes back with some powerful fruit and ester notes, and a smell that is unmistakably redolent of strawberries. The palate is smooth and soft, with more of that powerful, fresh strawberry and a milder flavor. A light nuttiness complicates the flavor, and while it sounds discordant it's actually quite nice.

deanso (16606) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JUN 30, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 30, 2020 355ml bottle from Beer52. Thick white head. Hazy golden pour. Lovely bitterness.
