Bottle. [thank you, Hildigöltur]
[vintage 2007]
Pours deep ruby red with a nice, creamy, pink head. Aroma has almonds, cherries and pistacio. High to medium carbonation, fine sweet mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, cherries, light almonds and mild tartness. Actually quite fine and elegant for a sweet-ish kriek.

37,5cl bottle at Delirium Cafe. Pours amber with a reddish hew & a small creamy head. Lots of sweet cherries. A mild sour note. Sticky palate. A kriek on the sweet side but fresh, quenching and delicious!

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of almonds as well as notes of cherries. The flavor is sweet and acidic with strong notes of almond, medium notes of cherries, and light notes of brettanomyces towards the finish. The body is thin.

From Boon - Very deep clear red brown (to brown) body, fine bubbled pink head; Very big very straight forward nose, lots of yogurt, lots of ripe red cherries and a very little dry hay behind; Quite sweet slightly oxidized body, very little acid near nose the only thing biting is the quite sharp carbonation; Slightly dry texture in finish but still very sweet, little acid and still some oxidized aromas. Not really interesting.

Had at Den Bengal in Antwerp on 6/19, The DeKoninck I had was a Flemish Red, so I’m not sure if this is the right place to rate this. Pours ruby, caramel with medium head. Strong nose of cherries, dark fruits, and yeast. taste has same noted, but more subdued. Clean finish. Nice beer.

A Mes rate: 1993 bottle at DHVL.
A very good looking kriek, you know what to expect. This is a proper girlie drink but I do have a tendency to like such things on occasion. The Boon influence is obvious in the aroma. Full on rich cherry that is sweet as hell but then a delicate sourness coupled with a lovely dryness looms from the glass. Slightly oxidised but there is no sign of it being over the hill. There is something gorgeous in the background that I can’t put my finger on. Sadly the flavour is not in the same league. Very similar to the nose and still tasty bu there is a definite blood note that I don’t really care for and the sweetness takes over the faint acidity too much. I still enjoyed having it however.
