Commercial Description:
100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to the bottle conditioned unfiltered ale. Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barley malts. Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone.

Courtesy of Alexsdad06, thanks Brad! 12 oz bottle. Pours a nut brown particulated color witha small creamy tan head. Nose of roasted malts, dark fruit, cocoa, with sour notes in the background. Initial taste begins with a smooth roasted malt that really brings out a nice beginning presence to the brew. Also apparent in the mid palate is a deeper smokiness, nuts, cocoa all well balanced and very tasty. Finishing with a mildy hopped palate, sweet malts and lingering roastiness. Medium body. Dry finish. Minor head retention and lacing of glass. Very nice!

Clear amber brown with a decent off white ivory head. Smell is slightly roasted malt. Flavor is nice and roasted malt with a malty coffee aftertaste. Above average smooth palate. Overall, a great brown!

12oz bottle. Brownish-orange color with a small head. Minimal sweet malty aroma. Medium bodied, with a nice clean mouthfeel. Plenty of brown, nutty nuances to keep it interesting. Good hop balance as well. Watery finish. Overall, a very pleasant Nut Brown.

Bottle. Pours a deep golden brown with a small off-white head that dissipates to a swirl along the top fairly quickly leaving pretty good lacing. Smell is sweet burnt/roasted caramel malts with a slight nut aroma as well. The taste is a much sweeter, more complex version of the nose. There is a huge sweet malt slug up front that flows right into a roasted nut flavor with some maple syrup sweetness in there as well. I also got a hint of fruits, maybe raisins, right before the finish. The mouthfeel is fairly light and extremely crisp despite the sweetness. This is a very good nut brown and the taste is extremely well balanced yet unique. I really like this one and could drink it all night.

Pours brown, and has a nice earthy aroma. Taste is caramel, nuts, dark fruits, and roasted malt. The mouthfeel is pretty good, well carbonated and easy to drink. This is one of the best brown ales out there.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber/ light brown color, almost caramel. I was expecting it to be a couple shades darker than it is. Head is a little lacking as well. Caramel and malt sweetness dominate the nose. Smells wonderful! Very smooth flavor with hints of caramel and nuts. It sort of reminds me of caramel pecan pie but not exactly. Very tasty! There is something in the flavor that’s missing though and I can’t put my finger on it.

courtesy of abents. Pours amber with off white head. Aroma is malty with light hazelnut nose, light hops with some esters. Taste toasted malts, nutty mouthfeel. Overall finish has good notes of the hazelnuts but also some hints of chocoltae and caramel. Possible ester palate with some faint fruity notes of dark fruits/pear in the after taste. At 5.5% this is an amazing brew, very drinkable.

Bottle, extra in a trade thanks John .A clear golden brown color with a fluffy 2 finger offwhite head.Aroma has notes of caramel malt and roasted malt with a light but definite presence of some hoppy bitterness and tartness. Flavor has a nice nutty character up front with some sweet tones, light biscuit, and a light but nicely done showing of hops...some bitterness and a very light tartness. Tasty. A medium mouthfeel and light carbonation. Very drinkable. This went very well with my grilled steak and potato.
