| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 19, 2010 Stumbled across a couple bottles from 2007. What a lush strong Belgian ale, perfect for a cold night and I’m sure the age did some great things to this beer. Pours a mottled reddish brown color with slow carbonation, a frothy tan head, and streaky lacing. Dark cherries, earthy yeast and a wonderful musty/sweaty odor that takes this aroma to a new level. Nicely blended, very mellow with a rich malt body. Filling and the beer rolls back with a calm sweetness. Overly ripe grape and berry flavor with nutty bread and funky yeast mixed in. A drawn out spicy characteristic adds more depth.
