Commercial Description:
Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

pitch dark, brown smooth creamy head. aroma is toffee, chocolate, faint roasted stuff, vanilla, sweetness (cocoa). flavor is licorice, chocolate, faint toffee, spicy tinge, caramel. aftertaste is roasted stuff , tofee and chocolate. palate is quite thick. overall a very flavorfull beer, but a bit too much toffee-sweet and chocolate, too chocolate-dessert like. Well blended and lots of flavors to explore, but a bit too far to the sweet side to really hit it home. but it’s close...

Pours deep black with tan head, aroma is full of chocolate and vanilla. Taste up front is huge chocolate and vanilla working together, dark chocolate notes lead into bourbon and coffee, and finishes a bit roasty. Mouthfeel is unbelievably creamy. Excellent brew!

Pours a very dark brown (almost black) with a medium to thick rich brown head. The aroma is fantastic: vanilla, chocolate and a little soy sauce along with coffee. The flavor is roasted coffee along with some vanilla and chocolate. It is absolutely delicious. It is a perfect mixture of flavors, without being overly sweet. Very complex.

Bottle. Pours a heavy deep brown color with lingering head. Flavor is deep cocoa, roasted malts, hints of vanilla. As in the description, both the cocoa and the hop presence provide a hint of bitterness. Medium bodied with a lingering sweet finish. Easy drinking and smooth, does Dieu Du Ciel make any bad beers?

Pours a thick, opaque espresso brown with close to no head, just some tan lacing. Aroma is a rich cocoa mixed with what reminds me of creme brulee. Flavor is beautiful. A creamy cocoa/dark chocolate mixed with notes of vanilla and hops. Body is creamy with light carbonation and bit bitter finnish

12oz. Thick brown black with a beige head. Coffee, vanilla, rich cocoa, bakers chocolate. Thin body low carbonation. Sweet cocoa with burnt chocolate coffee and a bitter finish. Flavors of cocoa are a too dusty and sweet. Hopin for something a little less sweet bitter and cocoay.

Don’t know who brought this one but thanks. Pours a dark clear ruby-brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma is mocha, vanilla, iced coffee, very sweet and appealing. Flavor is a great vanilla/chocolate tour-de-force. The cocoa and vanilla additions come through vividly, and while it’s sweet, the roasty coffee finish evens it out to make it really drinkable. Smooth silky mouthfeel.
