snowcrash000 (2268) - Cologne, GERMANY - APR 29, 2023
UPDATED: APR 29, 2023 Pours a cloudy, pale mahogany coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of grainy, toasted, slightly caramelly malt and juniper berries, with some hoppy, floral, earthy accents as well. Taste is a great balance of grainy, toasted, slightly caramelly malt and floral, earthy, slightly herbal hops, with a strong juniper berry presence as well. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some juniper berry lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. This makes for a nice red ale with a rather strong juniper berry presence, almost turning it into more of a fruit and field beer, but the toasted, grainy malts and bitter, floral and earthy hops shine through as well, delivering a great overall balance. While the juniper berries show through strongly here, they don't feel overpowering either. Overall, this makes for a rather nice, quite fruity red ale that goes down both refreshing and satisfying.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2022 Tap @ Alus Darbnīca Labietis, Riga. Unclear orange golden body under a white head. Aroma has citric fruit, juniper, hint of honey and spices. Taste is unusually like aroma, pale malt, citric fruit, honey, juniper, herbal, grassy and low bitterness. Medium body and same aftertaste. Interesting with the spices and wild hops, but I can't quite get the hang of it.
