Stalins Organ is Steam Beer (or California Common if you must). The Carlsbergensis yeast has fermented at 22 Celcius to squeeze a bit more fruityness out of the yeast.
Since it is a steam beer we added 5% smoked pilsner malt to the mash giving the beer a slight touch of smoke. The smoke gives some fatness that blends perfectly with the yeast and helps balancing the powerful tomahawk, simcoe and tettnanger hops.
All in All a well-hopped session steam beer with a touch of smoke.

Pours dark orange. Hops and citrus, a very clear and crisp taste to it, with very little bitterness, or at least it melds into the overall flow of the beer. Corn and a little bit of a smokey aftertaste. I actually really enjoyed this one. Easy, smooth beer to drink, but not boring.

As ’To Øl Primal Pils’. Really hazy orange looks with nice big head on top and lots of lacing. Aroma is very hoppy, there is tropical fruits, citrus, blood orange. Nice and fresh. Taste has sweet fruits, little bit of barley, no smoke but really bitter after taste. Medium body with medium carbonation. Touch of smoke went by for me but still very nice beer.

Bottle as Primal Pils. Gift from Helsinki or Espoo. Pours a hazy amber colour. Head is off-white, quite big, retention and lacing ok. Nose is sweet, somewhat citrusy, plastic, band-aid... Tastes the same... But then the smokiness... I get quite a lot of this, and both in aroma and taste, it feels like someone’s melting a barbie doll with a magnifying glass. Harsh bitterness in the finish. Not at all pleasant. Not sure if it’s supposed to be like this or not. Maybe gone off? Well, hooray anyway - this is the first To Øl beer that I can say I don’t like. Will try and have it again one day.

330ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy light amber. Aroma is lots of fresh citrussy hops. Really nice floral hoppy taste. Soft peach and melon notes with a floral aftertaste. I reckon this would be great stuff for a hot summers day.

courtesy of Maria Rothacher - hazy orange beer under a solid white foam left; light smokey and earthy aroma with hints of fruits; medium-bodied; soft palate and quite creamy; pretty bitter and long smokey, earthy and hazelnutty finish - balanced, uncomplicated and well-crafted

From 330 ml bottle. Pours a mostly clear yellow-gold with a fluffy lasting white head. Aromas are quite light but some lemon, corn and a floral note come through. Taste is crisp fresh fruit (green apple, peach) up front with a juicy citrus note in the mid-palate. Slips away to a gently fruity finish with a light pepper note coming through. Fruit aftertaste. Not complex but a nice summer style beer.
