Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
A railway themed name after the name for two engines pulling a train. A golden brew made only with pale ale malt and goldings hops giving it a well balanced hoppy flavour. Very drinkable - beware!!

[Cask at Stockholm Beer Festival 2003] The aroma is sweet oranges combined with hops - very fresh. The color is a clear orange and it has a bubbly head. The flavor is sweet and hoppy with notes of oranges. It has a hoppy, bitter, and dry end. A lovely bitter.

Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Nice bright orange body with rocky head. Nose of bitter hops. Starts quite tart and smooth. Really nice texture. With lots of fruits. And ends quite bitter. Enjoyable to be sure.

Bottle: Deep golden, hazy, some floaties visible, big rocky off-white head - leaving an impressive lacework; sweetish grains and mild exotic fruits in the bitter-hoppy nose; moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, creamy MF; lingering spicy fruity and bitter finish with hops sticking to the palate in the aftertaste. Pretty good.....

The Baron. Lacy orange gold, thick milky condition. Marzipan, floral leafy and orange citrus aroma. Rounded tangerine hops, almond hints, generous creamy vanilla, maize-like softness for dessert, wheat, lick of soap. Some varnishy astringency. Tangy and easy to slug, could get you into trouble...

Cask, JDW, Carlisle. Really tasty strong amber ale. Malty taste very evident, but a bitter, grassy and lemony nose puts a bit of balance back into it. Slightly warming in the throat and becomes reasonably rich as it goes down.

Cask@Beer Hunters, Pori. Clear amber color, big creamy off-white head, some lace. Flowery and nutty hoppy aroma. Medium-bodied. Harsh malty with nutty hoppy flavors. Aftertaste feels alcholic, it’s also malty and bitter. Kind of powerful cask ale, but not really balanced.

Bottle@ProeflokaalDelft. Light malty and light grassy aroma. Hazy, yellow colour, off-white head, good lace. Malty, bready, bitter, light herbal/grassy. Crisp, good session ale.

Tasted 14/03/2009. 500ml bottle courtesy of BozoNZ. Rich golden liquid with a very slight yeast haze. Good head. Floral, minerally, zesty nose with a nice subdued malt weight underpinning it all. Big lemony herbal hop flavour through the mouth, jelly fruit, with a solid and smooth bitterness and a great Burton liquour character holding it together. Malt carries the great water, yeast and hop character in this beer but there isn’t anything anorexic about it... on the contrary, it’s glorious. Reminds me of Burton Bridge Empire Ale crossed with Moa Original - two of my favourite beers over the last year or two. There’s more to Weston-super-Mare than pasty limeys, Roald Dahl and John Cleese.
