COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered. Previously known as The Beer To Dine For. Brewed to complement food, we use the lightest malts and Tettnang hops to achieve the unique pale golden colour, crisp taste and dry finish. This unique blend makes Hop the ideal accompaniment to spicy dishes, seafood and poultry. The Tettnang hops, imported from Washington State and Oregon, give the beer its soft melon aroma and complete the dry finish. Bottles have been sterile filtered since May 2006.

UPDATED: APR 24, 2020 Aroma : Light sweet caramel malt, lots of soft summer fruits with a strong wheaty/strawy note Taste : As aroma. Light watery body but decent hoppy character. Whilst still only very average it's unusualy good for what is normally a dull as ditchwater style

Keg at the Carrick knowe. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of oat biscuits, butterscotch. Taste is sweet, gassy. Thin finish.

WTF? Not sure why I expected better but this was borderline macro pee pee water. Not really any redeeming qualities except it was less offensive than some.

Sept 2006 from BA: This beer has been produced purely to have with food, and it works! A clear, tall 750ml stylish bottle, allows you to see a very pale, almost light blonde liquid within. It poured well, but the head, which was off white and thin, soon disappeared. The smell was of peaches and melons, due to only Tettnang Hops being used. The taste was crisp and clean. The beer went great with the Mustard Thatched cottage Pie my daughter made. The label recommended Spicey food, Seafood and Poultry. This is not your normal British beer, but I shall be trying it again, I suggest if you see it, do the same, give it a go.

Very pale, golden colour. Light hoppy aroma. Very thin and watery texture. Light hoppy flavour. Big hit of citrus. Good balance of flavour, slightly bitter, slightly sweet. A bit weak but a great thirst quencher.

5.0% pale gold colour with a very thin head, a lager type aroma, not much taste of hops, rather expensive for a poor beer.

Looks for all money like a golden lager with large, obvious carbonation and a white head that softly sinks into the pint. The smell is enticing (as it’s my first today and it is a warm spring day), golden malt and a waft of flowery hops. A soft flush of bubbles at first, then golden malt biscuits and tangy mandarin citrus. Bitterness is present, but not knock your socks off strong and leaves a lingering, tingling orange lobe flavour. Not the most massively flavourful pint, but one I’d happily go for seconds on a hot day at the pub. There’s an endorsement if ever there was one.

[750ml bottle, Waitrose, Edinburgh] Pours like a pint of flat lager - not exactly appetizing in prospect. Very thin head, some rising carbonation – clear gold colour. Nose of slightly chemical malt, some bready hop. Tastewise though, it’s a pretty refreshing option if you are sick of bottled lager - the Tettnang hops give it a Germanic flavour (although they are from Oregon). Personally however, if I wanted something from that category I’d rather stick to something it’s clearly trying to emulate. In truth, Greene King Hop isn’t that spectacular - it’s nice enough, solid, and I can see how it might appeal to lager drinkers, so if that was Greene King’s aim then I suppose they have to be satisfied. The customers might not be, however [11052009]
