Every year we anxiously await the warmer months to unleash this Double IPA, the summer edition of our YuleSmith seasonals. The flavor imparts orange, grapefruit, and tangerine hop notes with earthy, spicy, and resinous pine undertones. A sturdy malt backbone balances out the profound hop bitterness to create a refreshingly assertive and vibrant beer that offers an unapologetically bold expression of fresh American hops.

At first it starts as best DIPA I ever had.. after half of glass is gone, it becomes more common, but still very enjoyable. Quite intense maltiness, caramel, even bit honeyish, powerful hop combo gives peach, mango, grapefruit, lemon, pine. Moderate sweetness with lasting bitterness and bittersweet finish. Feels very silky smooth and enjoyable.

Bottled 650ml. -from Za Popen’t Ljubljana. Unclear golden coloured, medium sized white to off-white head, sweet fruity hoppy nose. Moderate malty, caramel, quite fruity hoppy and slightly alcoholic with dry bitter sweet finish. Not so fresh version but still decent brew.

Pours a slightly cloudy light amber, slightly darker than gold. World class head volume, lacing and retention. Outstanding nose of citrus (tangerine, orange, light grapefruit) over a rich biscuit base. Underneath, is a tantalizing hint of spicy spruce. Heavy light body with a fairly smooth texture. Superbly carbonated with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a rollicking fine effervescent prickly finish. The outstanding flavor profile is almost world class. It begins with the citric flavors of the nose, but with more grapefruit rind present. The rind flows into spruce in the middle over a rising malt influence. A mild bitterness kicks in and the malts assume the forefront with a rich grainy biscuit sweetness. Surprisingly, caramel notes are present at a much higher level than the color would suggest. The finish delivers the expected alcohol burn at the back of the throat, but also allows the alcohol content to escape it’s previous flavor masking. A rind and pine like bitterness lingers along with the alcohol astringency.

Exceeded expectations greatly. Perfect balance of honey sweetness, piney resin and hoppy bitterness. Can’t wait to seek out again next summer

Typical fantastic aroma from Ale Smith of tropical fruits and citrus. Mango lemon drop and tangerine. Light malty backbone makes it a great beer not just a hop tea like some. Clean hoppy finish.

On draft, Golden Crust, Red Lion, PA. served in a snifter glass. Pours orange gold, two finger off white head. Nice lacing and retention. Aroma of grapefruit and tangerine. Taste is assertively bitter balanced with caramel sweetness. Medium bodied, lively carbonation, resin but smooth mouth feel. Finishes long, dry and bitter. Tasting notes of red grapefruit, tangelos, spruce, caramel, resin and orange peel. Wow, I really enjoyed this offering! Very nice, punchy DIPA.

65cl bottle, served in Irish Pint. Pours golden orangish with a big white frothy head. Caramel aroma, citrus and tropical fruits. As for flavour, a lot of caramel with a slight fruity touch...fresh hops basically. Round on the palate. Full bodied, perfect carbonation. Nice, not outstanding though. At least once a year it is not a bad thing to have a fresh hop beer.
