Aromas of sweet malt and floral hops. Medium body with medium carbonation. It is incredibly fruity. With some caramel undernotes. Finishes fruity bitter, but so fruity the bitter is hardly noticeable. Incredible ale. vyvvy (2129), Florissant, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 26, 2006 Updated: Feb 3, 2008Pours clear amber with a white head that leaves fairly quickly. Aroma has pleasant floral hops and some caramel malt. The beer has a medium body with mild carbonation. Taste has what the aroma had - floral hops and caramel malts - very smooth taste. The finish is much sharper citrus, a mix between grapefruit and lemon. The finish has almost a prickly mouthfeel between the citrus and carbonation. The finish continues to get sharper further down the glass. This has the hops of APAs, but there seems to be more malt than most to balance things out. Nice interpretation of the style. (7/3/7/3/15 - 3.5) <P> Rerate notes: Previous rating is for the expedition APA. The dry hopped seems to be very reformulated. Appearance is now more cloudy and the head sticks around better. Aroma is now more hop heavy with tropical and funky hops along with some fruitiness. The beer is now crisper with more assertive carbonation. The taste leans towards the hops of the aroma for the new version, but there is still some grapefruit and lemon. This has climbed up the latter of APAs for me the last few months and is a great go to beer in the St. Louis area. Excellent APA. raindog (560), Evansville, Indiana, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 14, 2004 Good in the bottle, great on tap, and best hand-pumped from the cask. Intense hoppy flavor with a strong citrus bitter aftertaste. The color is a medium amber, and the head is nice (best if cask). NOTE: They are packaging this in bottles as Expedition Reserve--it's the same beer. KUEric (661), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 14, 2006 12 oz Bottle: Pours a light yellowy gold with a thick fluffy with a hazy carbonation along the top layer. Head goes away fairly quickly. Smells of bananas, citrus and floral hops, bread dough, grapefruit. Flavor is nice. A little more malt in the flavor than on the nose. Smooth creamy texture, and an overall nice beer. sneagrams3 (1808), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 4, 2005 Updated: Jan 5, 200812z bottle. Sept 27, 2005 bottle date. Pale, orangish, yellow hue. Nice white head. Slight pine and citrus nose. Also a little rubbery and/or bubblegum. Medium bodied with a defined dry hop note. Not really bitter, just piney. Medium malt roast with hints of sugar and caramel. But I just keep coming back to the pine. Resinous with a little grapefruit. As the glass moves beyond half empty, the flavors meld a little better, the caramel comes out a little more and the hops mellow but linger. RERATE of the Dry-Hopper version. 12oz bottle. Hazy with an orange amber hue. Finger width of off-white head. Grapefruit and citrus nose mixed with a touch of sugar and a sl;ight caramel malt aroma. Bright crisp and nicely bitter. Medium bodied with a really nice palate. Tingling effervescence. Good malt backbone but totally overshadowed by the bright grapefruit citrus hop flaovr. Mild lacing yeast character. Tart resinous hop flavors. Hits the tart and bitter of the palate. Totally tasty!
