Commercial Description:
Big Wave is a light golden ale with a subtle fruitiness and delicate hop aroma. A smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The lightly roasted honey malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and also gives a slight sweetness that is balanced out by our special blend of hops.

Pours golden with a smalle white head. Aroma is light caramel and light citrus hop. Flavour follows the nose.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden beer with a weak offwhite head. The aroma is weak with sweetness and caramel. The flavor is malt and sweetness. The palate is dry. Overall a good beer.

Had this beer as a sample when I toured their brewery. Its a pretty basic blonde ale. Has a sweet somewhat fruity taste and light on the hops. Good beer if you wanna knock down a few on a nice hot afternoon in Hawaii!!!

Rich gold with decent head. Hawaii does golden ales right. Simcoe-passionfruit tinged hop nose with similar qualities in the quenching body. A refreshing, flavorful, nicely executed golden ale.

12 ounce bottle, a buddy brought some island brews back for me on a recent trip to Hawaii. Served in a Sam Adams BL glass, the beer pours a hazy light gold color with about a half inch white head which went away quickly. Lacing is average. The aroma is light, it smells like bready malt, honey, and a bit of fruit. The taste is exactly the same as the aroma, I can taste the bit of fruitiness in this beer but I can’t figure out exactly what kind of fruit it is. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it seems a bit slick with decent carbonation. It’s still light, but had more substance than I expected. Drinkability is decent, it’s not hard to drink at all. Not a bad brew, but it’s not my favorite of the Kona beers I’ve tried.

Sleeve in a plastic cup at the Tiki Bar of the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. Was pleasantly surprised to find out the hotel had more than Budweiser, Bud Light, Heineken, and Corona. Clear golden pour with a white head that well, judging lacing in a plastic cup is probably not worth a discussion. Anyway, the aroma is quite hoppy, with a floral fruitiness of honey. Taste is honey, hops, and roast malts, but is well balanced, if a little bit on the sweeter side. My tastebuds are praying to their God for this miracle, and for salvation from the scourge of the Bud Light that could have been, I must say this makes for a particularly good beach beer, and is something I would drink regularly at home, if it were available. Excellent golden brew!

Pours with a murky - golden/orangey hue with no head whatsoever. Aroma is breadey, yeasty, some hops, and some citrus fruits Flavor has a breadey beginning to a moderate hoppy ending which makes the beer have a slightly bitter end note. Medium Mouthfeel, with light carbonation not a bad brew at all.
