high amount of hops, a little strong but good tasting. same with effect. good high alcohol volume for high hops.

Bomber shared by EDA!!! Damn dude. EDA even brought out the Stone 2nd Anniversary as well! Unfortunately this 3rd anniversary held up even worse than the 2nd- it was way past its prime. Pours a hazy dull orange and a thin soda like head. Aroma is old mildew stale, fungyusy with mushroom and vegetable ash, stale old hops, with a funky light tart note almost like a jonge lambic- strange. Flavor is old hops, cheesy light funk, leather, toasty hints of butter, metallic hops, strange phenols, more funk and mushroom with an earthy herbal finish- even notes of fish? wtf? Strange and obviously way past its prime. Cool to try though.

Bottle at RnH Drink for Charity. Thanks to everyone who brought great beer to this. Pale orange with small head. Hospital aroma. Sweet peach mild bitter and lots of nasty old flavors. Still carbonated. Good beer gone bad. Interesting to test out the effects of age on this.

There is a vaguely Belgian character to the malts with a touch of light spiciness. Chewy and a little bit spicy with a lot of wet dankness. What else could you expect after 10 years?

Bottle shared by EDA as part of a complete vertical. We drank the 2nd anniversary, too, which is too old to be put on the site; however, it was arguably the best of the four IPAs finishing with the 5th anniversary.

This one was crazy oxidized, retaining hop bitterness but little in the way of aromatics, maybe just a little bit of orange. Vegetal and farty flavor (mmmm). Pissy, catty, wet cat fur. A huge mess.

Bottle at the “Drink for Charity” event at Rattle & Hum thanks to Mike who brought a vertical from 2nd to 12th. Crazy. Second anniversary isn’t in the database, so notes on that one are included here. Pours a hazy brown to orange amber, with little black floaties that look like coffee grounds. Caramel and old prunes on the nose. Really good carbonation, surprising actually. Tastes a bit like old cardboard. 3rd looks like an even more hazy version of the 2nd. Flavors and aromas are very similar, and the doubled hops from 2nd to 3rd have fallen out completely. 3rd is bitter and tastes even older than the 2nd. Very cool to get a chance to try these.

Plumy raisonetts and still carbonated. 3.0 Stone 3rd Anniversary. Pours a hazy orange body with a thin lacing. Obvious oxidation, chewing tobacco, hints of spices and paper and a metallic character. 2.6

Thanks Jason for sharing! Glad to have tried it, but I know it’s way past it’s prime since being released more than 8 years ago. It pours to a glowing coppery vibrant orange body with a thin wispy white head. The aroma is still hoppy buy has some light cheesy things going on. MrFacto says it’s Isovaleric acid. Very strange. The flavor is hoppy with some grassy bitter lingering hops. Surprisingly not that degraded (other than the Isovaleric acid) after 8+ years... The palate is decently bitter. Would have liked to see it in its prime.

Bottled, extra special thanks to Chris for the bottle! Poured clear coppery amber (at least initially) with a short cap of off-white head.. left a dusting and some looser bubbles around the edge. The aroma picked up sweet, warmer grapefruit with what seemed like sweet Amarillo hoppage.. some spicy notes and caramel as well. The flavor had lots of grapefruit and floral notes at the core, with spicy and floral bitterness surrounding.. drier grassy notes with a sweet finish. A tad shy of medium-bodied with very enjoyable spicy notes.. long, rather oxidized finish (as-expected), which I thought worked alright this far along. Very glad to have tried this!

4oz taster on tap at Stone Winter Storm ’06. Oh man oh man. You know you always wonder how long you can age an IPA. Well I would not recomend 7 years. Color was very light amber with small head. Not a huge aroma but grassy, grassy, grassy. Flavor was slightly sweet and none existent hops and wait whats that grass. When I asked for a clean glass, the bartender must of heard fresh grass. Very thin and unapealing. Taking into account the balls it takes to keep a keg of this for so long, I did not give them the score I think the beer desrves if considered fresh.
