Once I didn’t like Belgian or Belgian inspired beers, and this Christmas beer had an important role in my transformation. It’s not one of the big ones, I know. But even if it’s quite uncomplicated and not so "big", I still love it.... The aroma is nicely spiced and malty, the color is warm amber and the head is nice. Even if it’s sweet there is a nice citrus, that balances the sweetness in a subtle and perfect way, making this an unexpected pleasure. It has notes of fruit, honey, flower and a hint of oranges and other citrus fruits. Nice to sip, nice to enjoy in all it’s uncomplicated charm. 1 year of storing makes it even better, actually much smoother and nice.

750 mL bottle. Pours clear and sparkling deep copper with a medium, fizzy and frothy off-white head, good retention. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, light toast and biscuit, low fruity esters, and no hops. Flavor is lightly sweet caramel and biscuit malt, low hop bitterness, earth and cellar notes with a dry and fizzy-spicy finish. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation.

Sampled on 1/29/2010. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a medium orange amber color from a corked and caged 750ml bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, cider, herbal and sweet. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, touch of bread and caramel. Touch of apple cider, bread and honey. Hops are earthy. Nice balance. Good carbonation. I had a lot of French Xmas beer this past season, that sort of taste like this one, ciderish, sweet, earthy and spicy. Nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Copper color with a large white head. Left some lacing. Aroma of fruit, spices, honey, raisin and sugar. Very sweet taste. It reminded a bit of the Finnish brew called Sima. Not much bitterness to talk about. Low carbonation. A disappointment, 75 cl was way too much!

Very little aroma. Normal orange appearance. The beer is sweet, a nice spice, but a slightly strained finish detracts just a bit. Still, quite good.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear orange amber with a lasting light amber head. Aromas of carmel, fruittiness, yeast and light toffee. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of toffee, pear, cookie and light spice witrh a crisp lightly sweet fruity finish.

Amber, clear and with a white head. Sweat malty aroma... A little two sweet on the palate and hops are bitter and not present enough to offset the sweetness. Reminiscent of other French beers such as 1664, but sweeter and more powerful in alcohol. Slightly sour as well and fizzy. Could have been better. It looks like a great beer, but taste like a bad one.

In the bomber bottle from Beertopia. Pours an extremely bright clear bronze amber color with a medium thick off white head. Aroma is very perfume-like. Flavor is devoid of anything that you might think of as holiday or christmas. This is a Fischer with a pretty label. Palate is very thin and watery. Not a bad beer, just nothing special. At $4.99 a 750 mL bottle, you get your money’s worth.
