Commercial Description:
This robust dark ale is surprisingly smooth and drinkable. Caramel, molasses and chocolate flavors fill the palate. Its sweet start is perfectly balanced by a roasted dry finish.

Dark color with lots of caramel, most other flavors were pretty muted. Drinkable, yet not exciting.

Enjoyed on tap at the Glendale location. Opaque black with a white head, thick, lacey. Subtle roast aroma.Creamy coffee makes this a good mouthfeel, and brings out the coffee an the graininess. Mollasses and chocolate as well. This batch rated 6.4% abv.

Reviewed 12/18/2009 (Tap @ BJs Clear Lake, Houston, TX): Pours a very very dark brown color body, almost black. Smallish creamy tan colored head, lastingish. Roasted aroma, some nuttiness. A little coffee. Some milky, creamy sweetness. Not very strong. Creamy mouthfeel, smooth. Some roastiness, coffee and sweetness. Pretty clean, a little watery, like a porter. Tasty. Very good lasting lacing.

Cask Stillage from the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 25/09/2009 Some roast aroma. Dark coloured smooth and rich on the palate with a little dryness and bitterness in a crisp roast finish.

Draught at BJs San Jose. Pretty typical porter color that is not black but pretty close, with a lasting beige head. Lightly toasted malt aromas with some mineral water as well. Burnt toast flavor with some watery chocolate, then finishes chalky with some weird rotting fruit. Thin in the mouth. Pretty weak porter; I hope this was just a bad keg.

Roasty, hints of chocolate finishes fairly dry. Very thin and lacking in depth for a porter, I echo the comments from patrick767. I’d like to see more robust flavors from this robust porter.

Scottsdale. Dark, clear brown. Creamy tan head. Nitro pour. Roasty and nutty aroma. Flavor is a bit sweet with light roast, cocoa and nuts. A tad watery.

tap from the Boulder brewpub - Pours dark brown with a roast malt aroma. The flavor is dark roast malt with a little coffee. I think the body is too thin. Overall it’s drinkable but underwhelming.
