mcberko (41700) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 20, 2023UPDATED: DEC 20, 2023 On tap at Honolulu Beer Works, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is dry and toasty in the malt department, with some dry bready crusts. Flavour is somewhat tangy (like an oyster stout) with toasted malt and dry crusty bread. Weak, flimsy malt base but clean enough. It’s alright.

dwyerpg (10734) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JUN 26, 2021UPDATED: JUN 26, 2021 a lot of roast to this. sits a bit too heavy in my stomach. the thickness is more than I'd like.
GarrettB (2458) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 5, 2019UPDATED: AUG 5, 2019 September 14th, 2015 - Drinking a stout in Hawaii feels a little out of place, but I see where the flavors meld once I get a whiff of the rich coffee notes on the smell. Freshly grounded and paired with chocolate, it's a nice and rich smell, which helps since my senses are a little blunted at this point. The body is thinner than expected but offers more chocolate and coffee, and a little creaminess. But more of the medium roast quality comes through. The flavor disappoints just a touch in complexity, which suggests they specialize here in the lighter beers, and especially their saisons.
drjoeng (2402) - SINGAPORE - MAR 15, 2019UPDATED: MAR 15, 2019 6.2%ABV. American stout
Tapped out black. 40°SRM.
Nose has aromas of smoke, water, earth, coffee, dark chocolate, hint of dark stone fruit suggesting ripe honey plums, raisins.
Mouthfeel is full and suggesting watered syrup.
Palate has flavors of black honey, honeyed dates, charred twig, charcoal, woodsmoke. Hint of sweetness in the palate is pleasing instead of a fault.
Hop flavors are woody, woodland floor, light sap.
Finish is clean with a residual woody, sweet finish.
Overall, a solid, balanced, tasty, and thoroughly enjoyable American stout with just enough new world hop highlights to make the style without being obtrusive. It’s a really good brew, honestly executed and faithfully put together.

ttutony (1296) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 25, 2017Mid to dark brown with an off-white head. Coffee and chocolate aroma. Enough hops to balance out the roasted malt on the palate, a little bit of lingering hop bitterness on the finish. Nicely done
