DarkElf (3497) - La Jolla, California, USA - DEC 9, 2019UPDATED: DEC 9, 2019 07-Oct-17 (500-ml bottle, 2003 release: Obtained 10-Apr-08 in trade with bogdi1, thanks Juha!)
A lot older than I realized at the time of squirreling it away, this is obviously past peak now. It pours a hazy, light-brown body and over half an inch of tan head that settles fairly quickly to a wide ring. The nose is mostly dried fruits like dates and fig with some dark, bready malts just behind. On the palate, I don't know how 'Belgiany' it seems, but fig and date join the strong caramel maltiness with yeasty bread and maybe a suggestion of banana, but only just barely. The beer is medium-full bodied, medium in carbonation, and pretty smooth in texture. Overall, oxidation is clearly present, but it hasn't ruined the beer yet. Enjoyable enough with plenty of caramel and fruity flavors from the yeast, but not a beer that I should have put in my age worthy box.
gEUS (1637) - Linden, BELGIUM - JUN 18, 2012500 ml bottle - pours murcky red brown with a thin head line. Aroma of prunes, raisins... with lear oxydation. Light body with smoky notes and sour-sweet balance. Taste of malt and sherry/port...

gyllenbock (16729) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 16, 2011Bottle.
An almost eight year old bottle of Christmas Beer in July, why not?
The beer was hazy, dark reddish/brown with a minimal head. Quite a lot of sediment in the bottle. The aroma was very vinous and sweet with raisin, caramel and dried fruit. The same in the taste, also some notes of chocolate, spices and a touch of earth. An interesting beer and certainly drinkable after all these years.
Dedollewaitor (21438) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 21, 200950cl bottle. Thanks Rene. Pours deep unclear amber with a small creamy white head and lacings. Nose is what I hoped for. Barley Wine matured style. Very vinous and lots of dark fruits, toffee and liquorice. Smooth, vaguely sticky and full palate. A bit warmth from alcohol. Only vague dusty/cellar/oxidized notes. Sweet taste with yeast, dark fruits , chocolate and liquorice. Only 7% but damm right still amazing after 6 years.
SaintMatty (10523) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - JAN 15, 2009500ml Bottle - Brown in colour with a foamy head. Malty aroma with some spicy and fruity hints. Rich and fruity taste with spicy malt, fruit cake and a sweet and hoppy finish.

Svesse (14172) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - DEC 17, 2008Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 16 Dec 2008. Dark brown colour with frothy, pale brown head. Malty nose with dark fruit, gingerbread cake and earthy hints of cellar. Malty taste with notes of dark fruit, chocolate, toffee, gingerbread cake and Christmas spices. Very nice balance with a slightly vinous touch. Survived the cellar nicely but has probably lost some punch along the way. Very nice one though. In short: dark fruit, gingerbread cake and spices.
