Alengrin (11018) - Gent, BELGIUM - AUG 15, 2014Well-balanced ’compromis’ framboise with both commercial sweetness and subtle lambic-like funkiness, true raspberry taste as well as sugar. Tasted many years ago from tap at Botteltje in Ostend. Too bad Eylenbosch of Schepdaal went the way of the dodo in 1991, every lambic brewery disappearing is a loss for Belgian beer culture.
Beerconnaiseur (166) - BELGIUM - JUL 13, 2014Bottle of 1994. Slight oxidation, raspberry finish, flat carbonization but still a round body for its age. Wonderful beer!
VsXsV (5000) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUN 28, 2014Bottle at Kulminator. Clear deep reddish brown liquid with a small white head. Aroma of cardboard, bread, cinnamon, raspberries and lemon’. Taste is light sweet and light sour with notes of raspberries, cinnamon and bread. Medium bodied with very low carbonation. Still nice, probably a great beer once.
mcberko (41813) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 11, 20141987 Vintage. 330mL bottle, pours a clear bronze amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out faded raspberries, funk, and cardboard. Flavour is very soft, with sweet raspberries, followed by only a touch of funk and maybe a hint of oxidation. The raspberries are surprisingly front and centre, with not a whole lot of funk or even oxidation. Carbonation is very soft, almost flat. This has stood up well. Very good stuff.
JulienHuxley (6219) - Sherbrooke, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 26, 2014Bottle from Kulminator (1987). Hazy deep amber pour, no head. Aroma is toasty, dead and oxidized, carboardy, no raspberry aroma left. Taste of cardborad, chalk, ever so slight kind of light sweet fruitiness. Completely dead.
