Pours a deep but thin mahogany with a sharp aroma of nutty wine and old house. Flavor is a subtly smoky roasted nut with a slight finish of caramel and butterscotch. Average mouthfeel. Not a bad beer; I would session this. For my Buster boy! rederic (1855), montréal, Quebec, Canada

| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. Literally smells like poop. Seriously. Was scared to taste it. Actually not as bad as expected. Some nice roast, chocolate, and nuttiness in there. Still doesn’t make it a good brew. brewski519 (474), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Poured a medium brown with the thickest white head I’ve ever seen on a beer - thought I had just poured a rootbeer. Aroma was of a carbonated beverage - and the taste was more carbonation... didn’t care for this beer at all - actually was quite disappointed. If you want a good Nut Brown Ale try a Carolina Nut Brown - but avoid this poor excuse for one. Terrible label... even worse beer. biznizness (972), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 19, 2009 Has a caramel pop upfront but really not much else to talk about. Throw this one in the run-of-the-mill-mediocre-brown-ale bin. Won’t buy it again. Sparky27 (1710), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear dark reddish brown amber with a 1 finger creamy beige head with decent. The nose is light chocolate and roasted nuts. Taste is earthy cocoa, mild caramel and light malt. Not much going on in this one. Light-to-medium mouth feel. Meh, nothing wrong with it just kinda boring. hellbilly (1643), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2009 finally got an uninfected bottle. it only took half a dozen or so soured tries...
pours an orange tinted medium brown with a barely off white head and moderate spots of lace. darker than the usual nut brown but still clear.
the aroma is mostly caramel malty. there are some nutty notes along with a copper-y metallic smell (not in a bad way. more mineral that metal).
the flavor is quite caramel-y with some nuttiness and faint chocolate notes. prickly hops tingle the tongue on the finish. surprisingly creamy slick mouth feel with a medium to full body.
this is not bad at all... sadly i had to drink five bad one’s to get it! this would be a nice go to session brew in the consistency were upheld.
