Nov 19, 2009 Bottle - Thanks a ton to footbalm, 1 for showing up before I left, and 2 for bringing this dandy...pours a viscous opaque dk brown with almost no head...aroma is dark and sweet, molassas, cocoa, roast and a bit of acid, maybe it was the alcohol, it was something with an edge...flavour is pretty much what you would expect, dark fruit, chocolate, roast with a smokey element to it as well...the one thing I didn’t expect was how well integrated the ABV was, noticable, but not detracting in the slightest...warming and mellow...a real treat!

Nov 17, 2009 Bottle - a huge thanks to Footbalm for this one. Pours a dark brown color with little to no head. The nose indicates the heat that lies ahead... Molasses and burnt sugars. The taste is rich with candied sugar, a heavy malt presence, caramel, molasses, dark fruit, and chocolate. What gets me is how insanely smooth it is. The 21% is warming, but blends in perfectly.

May 13, 2009 Pours flat and dark brown. Smells bozy and roasty. Tastes of chocolate, boozy, coffee, dark fruit. Decent.

Apr 19, 2009 12 oz bottle shared by egajdzis for the DFH vertical tasting of 1/27/07. Pours a nice deep oily black with a thin lasting tan head and some spotty lace. Aroma is actually a slight brett funk with old wood, slight cheese mixed with tons of toffee, black malts, char, bittersweet chocolate and roasted barely-0 slight coffee hints but a bit stale and aged. Flavor farmhouse and stale cheese, somewhat smoother and refined chocolate than noticed in the aroma, toast, raisin, and figs, and a big alcohol warming in the finish. Pretty good.

Mar 25, 2009 12 oz bottle thanks drewbeerme for sharing this rarity! Pours dark black brown with a beige ring of a head. Nose of burnt malts, chocolate, molasses, candied, sweet and slightly meaty. Sweet malt flavors chocolate, molasses, touch of alcohol that’s somewhat cloying. The flavors seem to get worse as it warms.

Feb 23, 2009 12oz bottle. big thanks to hophead22. pours black with tan head. nose of smoke, cardboard, vinegar. flavors of soy, cardboard, chocolate. heavy body w/ alc felt in the finish but rather smooth. not sure why this bottle didn’t age well but it didnt.

Feb 21, 2009 12oz bottle thanks to andrewme....pours a dark brown with reddish edges.... aroma of sweet toffee and lingering sweetness.... flavors of really sweet dark fruit but non-chocolate imperial stout essence. low carbonation and liveliness....
