Bottle, pours a darker copper amber color than the cask version. Compact, creamy tan head. Toffee and caramel malt sweetness in the aroma but the flavor introduces more of the hop bitterness that you expect. Excellent balance between the malt and hops. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel with a great flavour.

Bottle, 500ml. Pours a clear copper colour with a small off-white head and medium carbonation. Aroma is average, notes of sweet malts, hop and some fruitness are present. Has a caramel finish, as well as some traditional bitterness. Fine indeed.

Medium amber color with a low, foamy head that quickly went to lace. Strong aroma of fruit and hops—my idea of a British pale ale. Decent sweetness, with a toffee touch. Full malt flavor, lots of caramel, fruit, raisins, a good amount of sweetness, balanced by nice hops. Finish is fruity and hoppy, not astringently so, very pleasant and long-lasting. A fine beer, excellent example of the style.

Bottle. A - Light copper amber color with a good sized off-white, fluffy head. A bit of lacing left over. S - Lots of malt smells with caramel, toffee, and bread scents. T - Upfront is a lot of those malt flavors (caramel, toffee and bread). There is also a fair amount of apple, lemon, and some orange. Hops provide some of those fruit flavors but also bring a floral/earthiness too. The sweetness from the malts edges these out though, even though it isn’t all that sweet of a beer more smooth. M - Medium body with a good amount of carbonation. Smooth. D - As you would expect, this is a very drinkable beer. Smooth and easy to drink with those flavors that don’t overpower or hit you all at once, but rather build on you. Notes: Solid offering from a solid brewery. Has that quintessential British feel to it. Easy to drink. Worth getting. It won’t amaze you but it is a great beer to just sit back with and enjoy a few.

11.2oz. bottle served in a shaker pint. Poured a clear gold with a thin white head. Light hop aroma with some fruity yeast aroma. Light bodied. Soft and fruity in that English style. Some bready malt and mild hoppiness. Very drinkable. Classic English style that should not be served too cold.

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a whiskey snifter. The beer pours a deep amber to medium brown color, with a moderate but short-lived white head. Medium crystal malt character to the nose: caramel and toffee; along with a slight note of English hops, and plumy yeast-derived esters. The palate favors malt just slightly, but is fairly balanced, overall. Again, bread and caramel greet the tongue, before a mild bitterness comes in at about mid-palate. The yeast does a nice job of adding complexity without taking the show over. Overall, a classic example that plays above its weight in terms of flavor/abv content ratio.

Nice flavor with mild carbonation. Darker yellow almost golden brown color. Smooth taste with a small aftertaste.
