A full bodied malty I.P.A. style, tangy hops lead the malt throughout and dominate the dry hoppy aftertaste.

Cask conditioned at The Fox, Burwell, Cambs. Amber with white head. Surprisingly for a so called IPA this was full of toffee, butterscotch notes, sweet and frankly as far from an IPA as you could expect to get. Cardboard on the finish.

Cask Handpump at The Wellington, Birmingham. I really can’t see how this is an IPA. Amber-brown with a short head. Slight sweet toffee scent, very sweet with tangerines in the mouth; maybe also a hint of honey. Overall, I found this a bit too sickly for my taste.

Brownish and slightly cloudy.Traces of smokiness but not much sign of hops. Never an I.P.A.

Bottle Conditioned. BBE May 2004. Fruity malt aroma - Marris Otter. Quite dry with a wandering and gently surging earthy, twiggy bitterness. With yeast poured in the fruit rises wonderfully in the nose and brings a delightful grapefruit tang to proceedings.

Pale copper colour. Fruity and hoppy aroma. Bitter and citric on the palate. Some might find it a little astringent. Long dry, bitter finish. I liked this, but I deduct a point for calling it an IPA when it doesn't have enough alcohol to be the genuine article. Bottle-conditioned, October 2003.
