Commercial Description:
Creamy chocolate flavors combine with a lightly roasted finish and superb body to balance this traditional brown porter. A fragrant malt/hop aroma and herbaceous hop flavor complete this highly quaffable ale.

BPW #20 12 oz bottle picked up at FUBOB’s. Appearance is a lighter deep brown. Nose is pale malt?! Flavor is a lightly intense sweet caramel. Lack of roasted flavors is questionable. Mouth is very dry. This one got a little too close to the IU locker room!

Dan’s Bachelor Party Extended Weekend Rating #19 of 90. Bottle Dan picked up at parti pak while out here (thanks). Pours black with red edges. Nose is roasted malt, some chocolate and toffee, though minimal. I don’t think the hops blended too well in this one, a little sour and stale. Could be the handling or shelflife...more like Elmer’s Bad Porter.

Found a lone six pack of this in the bottom of a cooler in a liquor store near Portland, Indiana. Raucous pour from the 12 oz bottle – the head is out of control. The “fssst” from the bottle when I popped the top was a good sign that this stuff is heavily carbonated. Aroma of burn malts, hops, a bit sour / vegetal. Flavor is burnt grain, hops, bitter black coffee, dark fruits, not very sweet but emphasis on the bitter and sour. Makes me think of really strong coffee that has sat on the burner just a little too long. Finish is brief with emphasis on sour hoppiness. Nothing bad here but too burnt, sour, and unbalanced for my taste.

Pours a deep dark almost black mahogany with a thick brown head. Nose is malt, chocolate and molasses. Very creamy mouthfeel. Taste is full, with flavors of well roasted malts, toffee and chocolate. Very delightful beer, an excellent example of the style. Pairs well with brats, burgers or can stand on its own.

Ruby brown with a large tan head. Aroma of grassy hops, roasted malt and chocolate. Taste of chocolate, roasted malt and mild caramel. So-so and does nothing to distinguish itself from the myriad of mediocre porters on the market these days.

Very deep amber color with a thin tan head. Faint roasted malt aroma with a hint of fruit. Mild flavor of chocolate with hints of coffee, brown sugar and maple.

Bottle thanks to 17thfloor. Opaque black with small tan head. Aroma is dry roast and some fruit, all very light. Flavor is roast, some dried fruit, sweeter than the aroma with a nice chocolate rounding it out, slight herbal hop notes, a little sourness. Medium body with active carbonation that fades to some creaminess. Actually perferred this to the stout.
