Commercial Description:
Born of humble beginnings and of Scotch Heritage, Fat Bastard quietly arrived one winter day at Silver City Brewery in 2001. Exceptionally smooth and malty with a touch of peat character, Fat's legend quickly grew. Today, Fat stands astride the brewing landscape a behemoth brew, uncompromising and unavoidable. (Formerly Fat Bastard)

Received a 22-oz bomber via trade with 5000. Pours a burnt reddish brown colored brew with a thick and lumpy off-white head that has some nice retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, some smoked peat, toffee, and floral hops. Taste is semi-sweet peat and caramel malt flavors. Medium bodied, soft carbonation with addition flavors of dark pitted fruits and floral hops. Finish is semi-sweet, candied berries, peat and toffee aftertaste that slowly disappears. Actually, quite nice for a full strength scotch ale.

Light brown with red hue, little head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is slightly burnt toffee, a little peatish/smoke aroma, caramel with a slight American hop aroma too. Slightly smoky and caramel on the palate, again with a very slight American hop flavour of fruit and citrus. Some nice raisin/fruit cake flavour too. Medium to full bodied, well balanced. An obvious American take on the style, but that is in no way a negative thing. Good beer!

Pours a dark reddish brown with a thin head. Nose is standard for the style, hints of molasses, smoke, and dark fruits. Taste is very smoky, lots of brown sugar, molases, maple syrup and booze.

( 22oz bomber thanks to BA zdk9) pours clear dark reddish brown with spare ring of bubbles. Nose of burnt brown sugar, caramel and light peat. Taste of roasted sweet grains, toasted sugar, alcohol, caramel and peat. A little syrupy and undercarbonated but tastes nice on finish.

(bottle from RiversideAK). Clear dark brown color. Medium tan head, which is mostly diminishing. Aroma of bread and molasses. Sweet molasses flavor with light alcohol. Avg duration. Thin texture. Smooth finish. Moderate carbonation. Spare lacing.
