Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

Pours amber with thick off white head. Aroma of candied sugar. Very sweet taste of dark fruits. More of a sipper due to the sweetness. Good.

caramel, coffee aroma. cloudy, amber, brown, appearance. heavy cloying sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour. Good, but not my favorite from this quality brewery.

750 ml bottle. Pours mahogany with a thick, off-white, long lasting head. Aroma is Belgium yeast, brown sugar and fruity notes. Medium, sweet, somewhat tangy body. Belgium yeast, cherry fruit and brown sugar fills the mouth. Long, bitter-sweet finish. Wonderful dubbel.

Bottle. Aroma is, at first, caramel, candy and cherry. Then, there is banana and honey. Nice malty sweetness is the flavor with a citrusy finish. Average body which is quite enjoyable. A well done Belgian dubbel, it makes me think of La Trappe’s.

The aroma is very bready with banana. It pours a yeasty, orange brown color. Tastes a lot like a hefeweizen but a bit thicker. Long finish.

A murky brownish red pour with fluffy tan head. It has complex nose filled with apples, cherries, toffee, chocolate, and alcohol. The begins sweet and very fruity, then finishes on a dry sour note. It has a full body and slick texture with a lingering finish.

(Sample Date: 1/17/2010 Source:Other) Tap at Belvidere at Broad. Caramelized sugar and sweet bready maltiness in aroma. Spicy yeast character. Almost clear deep amber brown with frothy head. Flavor is sweet slightly fruity and bready with spicy and peppery yeast and hop character. Finish is dry, peppery, with some alcohol warming.
