Caramel in the palate, very sweet actually. This is one of their better brews (along with 3 Philosophers of course). alobar (1116), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 27, 2005 Soapy off-white head with deep burgundy color. Sweet fruity aroma. Taste is sweet and fruity with a hint of chocolate and toffee. Fruity cherry-like finish with a very slight hot edge. This a magnificent beer! tarheels86 (1104), Washington DC, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 30, 2008 Updated: Dec 21, 2008750 mL bottle. Pours a clear dark amber (cloudy if you toss in the yeast) with a enormous tan head that sticks around and leaves some fine lacework. Mild carbonation. Nose is a little thin but still there is some unsweet chocolate, raisins, alcohol, red licorice, toffee. Taste is nicely balanced. Medium to thin on the palate. Aftertaste is dry with notes of nutty malt and unsweet chocolate that lingers. Overall like a stout and abbey dubbel combined. Commercial description is dead-on....strange. 00cobraR (1103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Flavors is floral and fruity with a bit of sweetness. Aroma is well... wonderful. I throughly enjoyed this brew. Sickboy282 (1102), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 9, 2002 A citrusy aroma with a Dark appearance. The initial flavor is sweet with a floral finish and doesn’t last too long. If poured right, it develops a white creamy head, although it didn’t last long for me. kenb (1102), Oregon, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Nov 9, 2006 12 oz bottle via RegallacMC (thanks!). Pours a dark reddish brown with a MASSIVE head. Nose is mostly fruity esters, strawberries, figs, toffee, and a spice that i cannot put my finger on. Taste is very yeasty, with a strong malt make-up, some figs, and a somewhat chalky sourish finish. it is REALLY hard to put the tadte of this into words...It is interesting and different but i do not think i will finsih the bottle...with the massive head and sourness..i think this bottle may have simply gone a bit bad? Will have to try another sometime... Defreni (1099), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 20, 2009 Flaske: Overrater den måske en smule, men den var en tand varm da jeg drak den. Stor duft af rosiner og muscovado sukker. Flot skum på en mørkebrun klar øl. Dejlig vibrerende mundfylde. Smagen for kraftig vinøs, og med en tand lavere temperatur ville den have været mere afbalanceret. MAP (1099), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 5, 2005 Nice dark redish brown hue with a creamy foam head on top. The aroma is bready sweetness with cherries and candy sugar as well. Palate is a slight bit crisp, and the rest very smooth. Flavor is rather respectable, but nothing amazing. Damn good value at only $4.50 however.
