UPDATED: MAR 22, 2024 Draught at the brewpub as Das Legendäre Rauchbier. Lightly cloudy, copper colored. AROMA- pleasantly smoky, bacon, plum, cherry, strawberry, dark berries. FLAVOR- lightly sweet, just slightly bitter, a bit smoky, bacon, berries, touch of bread crusts. Medium bodied. Too light, still tasty.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2019 getrunken im Herbst 2011 vor Ort Ein Bier das auf den Rauchbieren aus Bamberg à la Schlenkerla aufbaut. Es ist sehr intensiv im Geschmack und man muss wirklich gerne die Geselchtes-Aromen mögen, um das Bier zu lieben. Zum Essen kann ich es mir nicht vorstellen, aber mancher Fleischfreund hat möglicherweise seine Freude damit, wobei der wohl eher gleich zum Original greifen wird -wobei es das einzige mir bekannte Bier dieser Art ist, das man in Wien gezapft bekommt.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2019 Pours out brown amber topped with a small head. Nose is smoke some ash tray notes and plenty roast.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2019 Pours light brown, mostly opaque, fluffy white head, great lacing. Strong smoky nose. Slightly sweet. Medium body

UPDATED: NOV 10, 2019 Pours a deep brown on tap with bubbly ring of tan head that dissipates to leave light lace. Aroma of mild smoky malts, with a touch of sweet biscuit and earthy hops underneath. Taste follows, smoke is mild, which is nice, backed up by enough sweetness from the malt that nothing takes the forefront. Very nicely done, could drink more than one of these, which is rare for the style.

UPDATED: APR 6, 2019 On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear brown with a thick light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, light smoke, dark fruits. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate malt, mild smoke and charred malt. Not super smoked but it is roasty and tasty. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2019 Tap at the brewpub, 11th March 19. Pours a cloudy chestnut brown beer, white head. Aroma is mild smoke, meaty. Taste is smoky, roasted malts. Tasty stuff.

Tap at the brewery. Dark chestnut, creamy brown head. Smoked fish aroma. Medium light body, bacon fish, roast, smoke, sweet soot finish. A little bit unbalanced, but fun.

F: big, bit tan, good retention. C: dark coppery to brown, hazy. A: smoky tones, smoked meat, malty, caramel, mineral. T: light malty, smoky tones are not overhelming, bit bready, caramel, medium body and lower carbonation, very nice, enjoyed, from tap @ brew pub visited 11.9.
