Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

12oz. Bottle: Nice aroma has notes of raspberry, medicine, honey, tea, and barley. Scent is somewhat tart. Poured amber in color with a small off-white head that diminished very quickly. Clear. Not sparkling. Looks kind of clear and watery. Flavor is heavily sweet. Tastes of raspberries, medicine, tea, and barley. Way too sweet. Light body. Thin and watery. Average carbonation. Long sweet finish. Overall, too sweet. Tastes like raspberry iced tea, not a fruit beer. Could not finish.

Bottle: Fiery amber, moderate sudsy off-white head, spotty lacing, light carbonation.   Musty nose, some notes of raspberry and sweet grass.   Very faint and artificial, but it sure brings me back to the days when I had several Spanish Peaks varieties available to me.   Seems fairly malt, more than I remembered.   Body and mouthfeel are average.   Soft finish, very light fruit at this point.   Perhaps the honey is more noticeable here than at the start when the fruit was a bit stronger.   Tiz okay, but fairly weak otherwise.

Pours light amber with a white head. Nose was sweet, lots of rapsberry, but doesn’t prepare you for how sweet the flavor is. Your palate gets a shock of raspberry sweetness followed by some caramel and honey in the finish. Pretty decent beer until a slight metallic flavor shows in the finish, but still doesn’t make it gross.

A lightly flavored ale. People will say this is a chick beer, but it deserves more credit than that. It’s got enough malt to be called an ale, and its sweetness isn’t cloying. Refreshing.

Like most fruit beers, it smeels and looks great. Reddish orange with bit rocky white head. Aroma of, oh lets see, maybe honey and raspberries? Not neaarly as much in the flavor. I give it credit for maintaining some beer flavors, but ultimately it just does not work. cloying sweet.

Light copper with some haze. Big raspberry nose was inviting. Softly textured malts with a light-to-moderate, fizzy carbonation. Sugary grains and cereals with a light sugar cookie sweetness. Syrupy-sweet raspberry flavor carries into the aroma. A very mild bitterness exposes itself in the finish. Just not enough. Flavorful notes of raspberry waft about, but unfortunately, I thought they had a slightly synthetic quality to them. Overall, not a bad wine cooler.
