Nutty, malty, sweet, and creamy with some light cinnamon, butterscotch, and earthy notes. Some dark fruits. Not cloying, even if it’s sweet. Very drinkable. I dig.

Thick beer, with a touch of amber. Rugged rich brown ale, alcohol tinged medium-dark malt thickness. Faint sourness in the sweetness, raisiny. Quite heavy on the palate. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2010 (bottle, 33cl) Hazy, mahogany colour with a big and beige, dense and steady foamy head. Sweet and toasty malty aroma with notes of cacao, caramel, a mild pruney fruitiness, vanilla and soft spicy notes. Sweet and roasty bitter flavour, full bodied with a smooth carbonation and an almost Porter-like viscosity. Robust toasty malty base with delicately underlying fruity notes, caramel, chocolate/cacao, hints of leather and spicy accents; toasty and slightly sourish berry- and plum-fruity finish. Pleasant. 09.III.10 kramer (2669), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 2, 2010 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a clear light brown body with a very large frothy light beige head that slowly settled. The nose is lightly chocolaty and roasty with a good bit of Belgian Yeast. A light note of alcohol as well. It’s main flavor profile can only be described in a generic word, "Belgian". Fizzy, frothy, fruity, and yeasty. The hallmark of generic Belgian beers. There’s a light chocolaty undertone to the flavor, but it’s mostly that melange of Belgian fruitiness of raisin and plum that makes up the heart of it. Sort of a cross between a Belgian Porter and a Dubbel. OK, but not a beer worth a second purchase. Beerdedone (1919), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

Lightly sour, lightly lactic twist on nuts and earthy wood. Very sweet and alcoholic flavor, light pepper accompanies the nut and wood in the dry, overly-carbonated finish. Too sweet and zesty.
