asheft (3161) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 7, 2018UPDATED: DEC 7, 2018 Vanilla roast flavour and aroma with a sweet start and a not quite dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Accents of hazelnuts, but not fruity. Slightly warming.
barrelagedluv (131) - Pittsburg, California, USA - JAN 11, 2018.Pours a solid mahogany, with minute bubbles and a caramel colored fluffy head. Aroma is mild, slight notes of coconut and cocoa. The smoked cherrywood flavor is rather unique, but a little subtle for a stout as hearty as this. Silky finish, sweet and malty like a milkshake. I love smoked malt beers, but this misses mark. Not bad, but not extraordinary either.
ABUSEDGOAT (4141) - California, USA - JAN 3, 2018Black pour with a fairly large tan head. Aroma is smoke, roast, chocolate, caramel, light soy. Medium to full body, lightly astringent, smoke and roast flavors dominate but it's not a huge smoked beer by any means. Decent.
cobaink2 (1438) - seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 30, 2017Bottle from Belmont station Portland . A serious head on once poured into an tulip. The takes away a bit from the experience. Cherry with some acid, coffee and mallassas. A little dry for a stout. It's ok but needs something to take it over the edge.
hayduke (6098) - Ferndale, California, USA - JUL 29, 2017UPDATED: DEC 12, 2017 AT RBSG 2107. Pours black with a tan head. Nose is smoke and chocolate.Medium plsu body. Favor is dark ripe fruit and chocolate. Finishes with the smoke. Very nice.
slowrunner77 (19964) - Reno, Nevada, USA - FEB 22, 2017Good beer overall - not great as an IRS. The cherrywood smoke confuses things a bit and adds a very slight astringency that I’d rather not have in a stout, but otherwise the roast and chocolate are pretty nice.
JohnGalt1 (1721) - Boise, Idaho, USA - AUG 29, 2016Bottle... Smokey essence is a bit too heavy for my palate not bad, but there doesn’t seem to be enough malty sweetness to tie things together.. a little too dry... still pretty well done.
