Commercial Description:
Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

I’m thinking I need to try this one again. All I took down from my last tasting was numbers and "nothing special."

Thanks coyotehunter! Bottled 5/26/09. Abundantly simple aroma of piney and dry grass. Little caramel. Orange/copper, small gummy white head and full lacing. Powerful, assertive, sustained earthy hops come early and often. There’s an orange peel dryness and complexity to the malt base, though the hops definitely demand attention here.

Founders has yet to disappoint. Let’s see if we can continue that streak! Pour is a very nice red gold with thick offwhote head and phenominal lacing. Smell isn’t complex so much as not and good citrus and resiny hops. Taste is similar to smell bit nuanced, it seems as if it changes flavors as the drink progresses. I may actually prefer this to their dipa. Citrus, grapefruit, pine all come together nicely. Mouth is medium bodied but feels thick for an IPA which is a good thing in my book. Carbonation is where it should be, in the medium high range. Very drinkable and now that we can get founders, maybe a new go to sessioner!

Bottle 355 ml
Appearance: clear amber with large plus sized mid-fine top. Good lace presented. 4-
Nose: light but highly aromatic hop profile , mild malt. Fresh IPA.
Flavor/Palate : Very soft bodied , velvety malt base with leafy soft green hop profile. Late chewy character. One of the softest IPAs around.

Draft. Clear orange amber pour with nice off-white head that laces the glass. Hoppy aroma with some sweetness, citrus, floral notes, and pine. So-so hop flavor with more citrus and malt. Light body. A bit of soapiness to it, which disappointed me. I can think of quite a few IPAs I’d rather have, and this one seems a bit overrated.

355 mL. Pours a translucent orange with a two-finger, off-white, rocky head that has great retention and leaves thick, fluffy lacework. Aroma is spice, candi sugar, orange juice, floral hops, and herbal hops. Taste is tons of herbal hops, orange juice, orange peel, a bit of pale malt. Finish is herbal hops. Big time beta acid presence from the dry hopping. Pretty light-bodied for an IPA and very easy to drink. 7.2% is well hidden. Very nice.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear, orange-bronze body with a finger-width, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a veil of lacing on the surface and a streaky, sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweeter pines, pineapple, grapefruit, some peppery and minty florals, and just enough pale caramels. Very aromatic. Flavor is initially some pine and citrus before moving to a floral, resiny, grapefruit middle. A berry-like sweetness and lighter caramel reside in there as well. Finishes with a moderate, herbal bitterness that lingers for a good amount of time. Dry, medium bodied, soft carbonation, and very clean. Overall, a really balanced and drinkable IPA. The herbal bitterness is very nice and never gets excessive. Extremely tasty.
