| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 23, 2010 Founders Porter has to be the best porter I’ve ever laid lips to. When I first tasted it, it compared very closely with Victory’s Storm King Stout. The beer poured pitch black with a very minimal dark brown head. There wasn’t much lacing left around the glass, either. The nose was full of hops, dark chocolate and earth. The body was fairly heavy, but smooth and drinkable. The flavors were very bitter and hoppy, especially in the finish. Other flavors noted were of a milky but dark chocolate, red grapes and alcohol. roder60 (1052), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Sep 28, 2009 Pours a beautiful dark black with a nice layer of foamy tan head that lasts. Aroma is really really roasty with a tad bit of caramel chocolate sweetness. Flavor is very bitter and roasty, a lot like a good cup of double shot expresso late with a nice dollop of vanilla. Overall, very very good beer. vyvvy (2129), Florissant, Missouri, USA

Pours very dark and stout like with a dense creamy soapy head that lasts. The aroma has roasted malt, rich chocolate, nougat and earthy spicy hops - excellent. Medium body that is luscious creamy and smooth with flowing soft carbonation. The flavor starts with roasted malt and some sweetness, chocolate, lush cream and some very dark berries. The finish has some complementary earthy / spicy hops giving it amazing balance. This is a fantastic porter. Yakbreath (13), Macomb, Michigan, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 16, 2009 This is a very dark porter. There’s a definite American hop note but it’s kind of buried in the licorice coffee, chocolate and toast of the malt. A bit on the thick side. I’m really surprised that they called this a porter. This is very stout like and robust at that. scraff (1999), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 5, 2009 Black, thin tan creamy head. Charred chocolate and caramel cream aromas warm to a deep roasty coffee berry-like tone. Dark chocolate and black currant notes balance on a light bitter coffee swirl. A touch of hops late rounds this out to near perfection. Medium bodied and smooth, soft carbonation, bittersweet, roasty finish. A fantastic session porter (bordering stout) that will certainly become part of the dark beer rotation. So good to have you in DC now… AustinMilbarge (681), Denver, Colorado, USA

Thin creamy carmel colored head. Sweet coffee notes. A little bit of carbonation. Pretty good porter, sweeter, like I like them.
