Bottle 33 cl from Bier-Bienne (CH). Golden with an average, cream and persistent head. Indeniable aromas of citrus, tropical fruits, toffy, marshmallow. The taste is soft with caramel, the frame is not neglected for bitterness, aromas of hops come next, notes of spices. Bitter without exces, the perfume at first. To recommend.

(330ml bottle from La Mise en Bière, Lausanne) Pours slightly hazy deep orange-gold with a smallish white head lingering with lace. Aroma fruity and floral hops, with orange, grapefruit and lemon all present, as is sweet nectarine. Also some fresh pine needle and perfumed flowers. Bit of slightly sweet and bready malt. Palate is rather more dull. Softly sweet caramel at first, some orange and lemon zest, grassy and floral, with the grass and herbal notes taking over. Finish is dry, herbal, bit earthy, Munich malt, moderately bitter. Average mouthfeel and carbonation. The nose is lovely on this beer, but seems like the extraction of hop character as flavour is poor. Maybe needed more whirlpool hops or something.

Erscheinung gut. Riecht nach Pinien, Heublumen und Etwas Zotrus und Nektarine. Gut und erfrischend, angenehmer Malzkörper, auf der bitteren Seite bis am Schluss, dann leicht trocken, blumig. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

eduardovl (1832) - SWITZERLAND - APR 29, 2015
330ml bottle served in a pint glass. Pours a hazy dark orange forming a huge white head. Medium to low retention forming lots of lingering lacings around the glass. Nose is very hoppy, of course. Sweet and caramel malts. Hops give it notes of pine, mango, orange zest, watermelon and grass. Good combination. Taste is slightly sweet in the beginning, becoming quickly, quite bitter and grassy. Strong notes of caramel malts and grapefruit. Persistent bitterness. Body is medium, carbonation is medium too. Aftertaste is a mix of sweet caramel malts and grapefruit. Light notes of watermelon and mango. Great drinkability. Great Swiss IPA. To be tasted again :)

BOTTLE 33 CL from Bov. Clear amber with a frothy head. The aroma is pure hops - dominated by acid-grassy notes, like gooseberry or kiwi, but there’s some sweet fruit too (mango?, as well as a touch of dank and resins. The taste is similar with some fresh acid fruit (emphasis on fruit, this is by no means a sour beer!), a nice dry bitter hoppy finish. The malts are almost invisible. Good.

Draught at Au Trappiste, Bern
Golden color, hazy. Intense aroma, quite fruity. Good body strength, delicate malt flavor, mellow, moderately sweet, strong bitterness with enough hop quality.
Nice.

Bov (14982) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - MAR 6, 2015
draught@Au Trappiste - clear bronze beer with a chaotic foam left, light peachy aroma with hints of bitter oranges; a good malt backbone, clean and with a subtle carbonation; fairly bitter and quite dry; long hoppy finish of tea, spicy hops and tangerines - accurate and pleasant

Now finally available in the 3.3dl bottles with the new labels. It reminded me of why I was so fond of S&A at one point. It’s incredibly fruity when poured, the nose instantly wakes up to the aroma of "spring", there are hints of flower and grass without drifting into the area where you think they might have accidently added their old garden to the brew. It looks rather unexciting, as most IPAs do, but don’t be fooled by that. The balance is a bit off, most likely on purpose ;), to please hopheads more than the followers of a nice, round beer. I simply love it but I am truly a hophead. It’s overall a rather classic beer but the S&A hopping makes it something individual. S&A tends to always taste a bit alike. This can get boring, when you try a lot of their beers, but is also a something I rather like about them. It makes them different and recognizable, providing the brewery with character in this world where too many new micro breweries tend to brew the same as everybody else does.
