Commercial Description:
Ropewalk is a mellow, malt-driven amber that dances a subtly sweet line. The balance of Crystal malt with a subtle dose of Northwest hops delivers a refreshing ale that makes for a great session beer. Originally brewed to mark our 20th anniversary, Ropewalk – which literally means “a long narrow building where rope is made” – is a tribute to our building’s roots as a rope factory, while also celebrating feats of daring everywhere.

Looks bland somehow. I know that sounds extremely presumptious and uneducated but it really does look bland - light brown with minimal head, yielding no signs of excitement. The aroma is no different, overly smooth boring malt, perhaps a tad smokey. Flavor is a touch bitter, some smoke here too, a little cane sugar. Poor malt profile (although fairly present). Boring, just flat out boring.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours clear amber with a thin and creamy white head that evaporates quickly. Slippery sheet of lacing. Aroma of sweet malt and fruit. Light and clean body with flavors of sweet caramel, malt and fruit. Weak hops in the background. The finish is sweet with a short malt aftertaste. Slightly below average overall.

Draught at the Bridgeport Brewery. Decent caramel backing, with cherry. Well-balanced bitterness. Hop level relatively low. Not really exciting but the balance makes it very drinkable.
