Very sweet. Chewy like honey. Pooh would really like it but Tigger wouldn’t. Coying and the alcoholic bite is not enough. No transition from the original sweet taste to the alcohol. It is the first time I grimmaced today. But I wasn’t so hurting like the guy to my left that I didn’t finish it.

(33cl bottle) Clear, amber colour with a small, eggshell-coloured foamy head. Sweet, toast-malty aroma with a touch of honey and a Cognac-like, not unpleasant alcoholic touch. Very sweet flavour, chewy malty, moderately toasted taste, honey-ish fruity with light notes of caramel; sweet malt-liqueur-like, but aromatic finish with a good length and a more than noticeable but also non-disturbing alcohol.

Pours clear gold with a small white head. Sweet, bready aroma with a good bit of alcohol. Flavor starts out like a good doppel (if that’s what this thing really is), but soon turns harshly grainy and alcoholic. The finish settles back into a pleasant sweetness, but you can still taste that graininess in the back of the throat. Worth a shot.

Bought this at John’s Market in Portland. A little strange for a dopplebock but if you are a serious beer drinker this beer must be searched out. Page 413 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 358 of his 500 Classic Brews to go.

bottle. aroma of caramel apples. very very sweet aroma. slight alcohol in nose. golden color. very few cascading bubbles. no head. kinda too light in color to be a doppelbock. texture and aroma are right on. this beer is an ass kicker, very strong!

Bottle. Golden yellow pour. Sweet aroma. Very strong taste, almost too sweet - couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Very fruity.

Bottled sampled at Delilah’s Vintage Beer Fest 2007. Pours golden yellow with a hay/malt aroma and some weak faded hops in the background. Malty flavors, a little hoppy with raw tannins, sweet alcohol and a watery finish.

Pours a deep gold, slightly hazy, with a very thin white head. Soft, sweet candylike malt aroma. Flavor is rich, malty with a lightly bitter hop finish. Medium bodied, slightly grainy. Very tasty stuff, though.
