Didn’t taste like a Premium bitter to me, maybe this is one of those english ’strong ales’ that aren’t that strong (low ABV). This was quite nice anyway. Slightly toasty, caramelly, with a slight hint of coffee and berries, quite nice i thought.

One of those interesting beers that doesn’t fit neatly into any particular style category. Attractive dark chestnut colour. Lots of roast malt in the aroma. Flavour has some sweetish fruit with hints of chocolate and tobacco. Fairly smooth mouthfeel, although there’s a modest sharp bite that gives rise to a rather bittersweet overall feel. Went down very nicely.

Bright chestnut with a soapy off-white head; slightly nutty aroma; smooth, dry and earthy, but rather thin; strong bitter finish. Good but could do with more body. The pleasant roasty toasty flavours are enough to keep this drinkable but the sweetish toffee makes this seem a bit cloying.
