Caqsk@The Market Porter, Southwark, London. Didn’t taste like a Premium bitter to me, maybe this is one of those english ’strong ales’ that aren’t that strong (low ABV). This was quite nice anyway. Slightly toasty, caramelly, with a slight hint of coffee and berries, quite nice i thought.

Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End, Harrow. Chestnut with a beige head. Hints of chocolate and some caramel lead to a reasonably hoppy finish. OK.

Cask (handpump), Three Legged Mare, York, October 2006. One of those interesting beers that doesn’t fit neatly into any particular style category. Attractive dark chestnut colour. Lots of roast malt in the aroma. Flavour has some sweetish fruit with hints of chocolate and tobacco. Fairly smooth mouthfeel, although there’s a modest sharp bite that gives rise to a rather bittersweet overall feel. Went down very nicely.

Cask at the William Morris (JDW), Hammersmith. Bright chestnut with a soapy off-white head; slightly nutty aroma; smooth, dry and earthy, but rather thin; strong bitter finish. Good but could do with more body.

Cask conditioned @ South Western Arms Soton. Fruity toffee and mildly roasty malts. The pleasant roasty toasty flavours are enough to keep this drinkable but the sweetish toffee makes this seem a bit cloying.
