A small tan layer stays on top and helps lacings develop on the glass. It has a rich aroma of chocolate malts with a hint of hops. Full bodied and very rich, the flavor is smooth and full of chocolate and coffee notes. The finish is slightly sweet with a touch of hop flavor. An excellent oatmeal stout, smooth, robust, and flavorful. raymow (740), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 9, 2007 Pitchblack with a creamy, light brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee and a hint of plum. The flavour is very smooth and nice, just like an oatmeal stout should be. It has loads of coffee, hints of plum, light sweetness and a nice bitterness. The body and mouthfeel is quite full - and the balance is great! Thank you so much Tom/After4ever for this very nice stout! 1935 mkgrenwel (420), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA

Then, transitions into a dry, bitter, roasted barley flavor. Good bit of roasted grain bitternessl .Light hopping keeps the sweetness balanced very well. Lots of barley and oat flavor without being grainy. Actually a rather wet mouthfeel, but never thin. Bittersweet is the perfect way to describe it, like bakers chocolate.

It’s a bit simple and a little thin, but it is really pleasant to drink. Light roast aroma and sweet malty flavor. It’s a bit like chocolate skim milk. I could drink tubs of this. Head retention is decent w/ spattered residual lacing. Aroma is weak w/ malted cocoa, roasted coffee and nuts. Medium nectar w/ mellow residual effers. Flavors are thick black coffee, cocoa, w/ just a hint of oatmeal. Very well balanced. Squeaky clean, soft and creamy on the palate. Overall: Robust w/ it’s big roast component yet smooth. Good stuff. Highly recommended.
