COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Simcoe, Mosaic, Amarillo. 2015 IPA is SoPro’s yearly IPA installment. The IPA this year features an up-front hop bite with tropical and pine flavors creeping throughout. Finishing dry and bright with a lingering sticky flavor, this IPA is not a candidate for first timers but reserved for the hop head who needs a revival from the mundane.

I think this may have been past it’s prime. I mean, I’m not one to complain that an IPA has to be at the very peak of freshness, but in this case it seemed like the bulk of the hop character had faded and left a malt bomb. Lots of caramel and toffee.

From the can. Aroma is very hoppy, syrupy and resin. Flavor is sweet, and hoppy for sure. Very enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pint can. Pours burnt orange and lightly hazy with a disc of meringue-like foam. Nose is tangerine, evergreen resin, dank herb and honey-toasted grain. Tastes of orange, earthy malt, resin and a touch of resiny mint on the finish. Medium body has smooth, low-medium carbonation and a good balance.

Pale yellow pour with fluffy white head. Aroma is bready malt and citrus hops flavor is bready with a citrus/floral finish. Nice bitter that combines with the bread for a good flavor. Medium body with good carbonation. solis

ronaldtheriot (2692) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - AUG 8, 2015
SPB 2015 IPA has a thick, off-white, foamy, overflowing head, a murky, bubbly golden appearance, and very heavy lacing left behind. The aroma is of piny hop oil and sweet white bread. Taste is of those two elements, along with building bitterness, which does impart a shade of a rotten note (but, this could be a misapprehension on my part). Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and somewhat chewy, and SPB 2015 IPA finishes puckering and a tad harsh. RJT

Poobah (779) - New Orleans, Louisiana, USA - AUG 1, 2015
Lemon-gold with a fluffy, meringue head and a strong, hoppy nose. Plenty of lacing. Easy entry with a mildly-carbonated, smooth, somewhat malty mouthfeel. Light finish with hops and lemonheads.

16oz can. Little bit in a snifter for rate. Rest in can. Typical IPA color. Somewhat cloudy. Mild hop aroma. Mostly sweet malt. Taste follows. Tasty IPA. Moderate hop presence. Slightly bitter finish.

Pours a light copper, with a medium sized, white head. Nice aroma full of pine and resin. The hoppy flavor is filled with grapefruit and finishes a medium bitter bite.

Pours a very hazy light rust orange. Has a very strong citrus hop and pine aroma. Has a very strong but delicious citrus hop, pine, and some light fruit malts. A nice bitter hop lingering aftertaste.

Tap at Avenue Pub. Pale golden pour. Cloudy and hazy with a thick white head. The nose is very tropical and a little bit fruity. Sweet and juicy. Delicious really.
