Aroma of sweaty pineapple and grapefruit hops, and some sweet caramel malts. Flavor was grassy, otherwise the same as the aroma--fruity and grassy are underlined. Light body, moderate smooth carbonation. Pretty good. TPaliga (212), Munster, Indiana, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 30, 2006 On tap at the brewpub, enjoyed on the day of the DL gathering. Great to see this one around for the festivities. I don’t quite see how "borders on IPA," to me, its clearly in the category. Regardless, there’s an assertive hop presence on the nose and more of the same on the palate. Some ginger and coriander followed by the grapefruit and pine notes. If you’re an IPA drinker, this is wonderful stuff. Clearly well-crafted, but I have a hard time finding much here other than a lot of hops. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 24, 2004 The joy of visiting Three Floyds is trying such beer on tap. This dark, cloudy amber elixir with the requisite amount of off-white head was quite good. A symphony of aromas greet the nose: hops, spices, fruit, caramel, pine. Sip some in and feel a full-bodied, smooth, robust beer caress your tongue and seduce your tastebuds. The flavor is a burst of hops joined by puffs of spice, fruit, and forest essence. Damn. The down side of this beer was that we couldn’t get a growler to take home. gferd (99), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

The aroma was grapefruit and caramel with a hint of pine. The taste was pine and grapefruit. nice and bitter like you woudl expect and IPA from 3F’s. There was also some bread crust and peanuts. Overall, a decent IPA, but needs a little more malt balance.
