Taste of pine, citrus peal, hops, malt grapefruit and a wonderful bitterness that is very enjoyable. I could drink this all the time. jbye4334 (822), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 10, 2009 (bottle). Pours a copper color. Medium size head that is tanish yellow in color. Moderate lacing. Aroma is hoppy and slightly grassy. Heavy and harsh hop taste. Lively carbonation on the finish, with a slight metallic taste. 19Ei8hty (811), Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2007 Piney beyond belief - which is alright by me. Very hoppy - crisp clean acidic hop presence. The malt base is sweet but pretty thin considering the sharp hop bite and seems a bit soapy. Would like to try this aged or casked. JFURYCAT (806), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 25, 2010 The nose rocks but the flavor is a bit too biscuity for me with the malt quotient. It does, however, have a good abundance of grapefruit, pine and a nice dry palate to follow. I’d cut the caramel a bit and this would shine. grant (803), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 25, 2007 12 oz. bottle from DYCSoccer17. Rich amber color, light amounts of clinging head. Aroma reeks of big, raw Simcoe - mostly pine but some orange and tangerine thrown in there too. I also pick up some yeasty notes and some light sulfur compounds. Sharp, acidic hoppiness cuts in on first sip, fading to some citric (orangey) fruitiness and heavy resin. Lightly sour. The beer tends towards the dry side with only a bit of caramel sweetness to offset the intense hoppy flavor. Medium-high bitterness, which, as the commercial description implies, is quite clean, yet also lingering. Very juicy, dry, hop-forward. A little too acidic for me to love it though. grimreeser (797), Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 3, 2006 Pours a darkish amber with medium-large frothy haed that disappears rather quickly. Nice sweet aroma of flowery hops. Smells better than it tastes. Bitter flavor, leaves a little bitterness on the tougne after the finish. Decent IPA. ontario102 (794), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 20, 2006 Very pleasent pineapple, evergreen and earthy hop aroma; pours with a nice, creamy head over a deep copper colored body; toastty malts with a touch of nuttiness in a somewhat full and fairly creamy body; nice balance and very tasty offering from Big Sky. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 27, 2010 Pours burnt orange with a moderate white head. Aroma is quite grapefruity and floral with a bit caramel and bread in the background. Taste is initally malty and flowery, flavors of caramel, grapefruit, potpourri, and pine. Finishes substantially bitter with malt flavors turning to burnt toast and the hops drying out to a bitter grapefruit and floral aftertaste. Medium bodied, and certainly drinkable. Better than some IPAs, not better than others.
