Commercial Description:
As the story goes, I was redesigning our IPA to be bigger and better. As it came together, it started to take on a life of its own. After much deliberation and several pints of our new creation, we decided to name him after the master of the macabre, Edgar Allen Poe, as a tribute to his aptly named short story "Hop Frog". As Edgar fermented and spewed his almost abusive hop aroma throughout the pub, his legend and our thirst grew until finally one day, he was released into the world. We hope Edgar amuses you as much as he has us but stay on his good side, because, much like the story, this Hop Frog bites back!

Fresh Bottle I picked up at Capone’s. Pours an opaque light brown. Little hops in the nose for a DIPA but the first sip is really balanced with malt. Some fruit flavors especially toward the end. The hop profile is not overpowering but still prominant. The overall flavor does not linger too long with a nice clean finish.. Bull Frog is quickly becoming one of my favorite breweries. Plus it is only a 3 hour drive for me.

Fresh 750ml bottle, maybe 2 weeks old. Pours a cloudy, dark orange-amber hue with a thick, frothy, lasting head of off-white foam. Solid, organic looking splotches of lacing coat the glass well. The aroma is majorly hoppy, with juicy orange and grapefruit notes being accompanied by some dank, cannabis-esque stickiness. A good amount of candyish toffee malt lies beneath, lending balance after the initial hop assault subsides. Flavors are much the same, with a bit of unfortunate soapiness in the yeast profile. Citrus hops are featured prominently, countered well by bready, toffee laden malts. Medium bodied, with a lively, micro-fine carbonation, the finish comes across quite dry and yeasty. This one smells great, but drops off a bit due to the soapiness. Overall, a very solid IIPA.

750mL, shared kindly by Beerlando. Slightly hazy golden with a sudsy off-whit head, lots of lacing. Fresh, green citrus and pine hop nose, hints of mango, some sweet pale malts showing through the nose. Citrus, some sweet malts, a little soapiness, bitter grapefruit finish. Drying bitter finish, a touch of sweetness in the middle, the alcohol comes through a little out the nose. Medium carbonation.

thanks to Beerlando for sharing this! 750 ml. Citrus hops and yeast on the nose, some piney sweetness as well. Pours golden amber with a thin white head. Super piney hops with hints of grapefruit peel, with traces of honey and light molasses in the background. Solid IIPA.

Special thanks to Beerlando. Super strong hop aroma. Smooth and citrusy. A little soapy. Flavor is strong with a little bit of yeast and more soap. Good strong IPA, but the soap is a slight turnoff. Pretty good.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours orange with a thin head. Citric hop aroma, with lighter floral and pine notes. The flavor is relatively balanced, with citric hops, pine needles, and some lighter sweet malts in the background.

750 ml bottle from Bullfrog Pub. The nose is earthy, piney hops, not much malt, maybe some orange peel. The appearance is relatively true to style, orange color, generous white head, only slightly hazy, which was surprising. The flavor is caramel malt, piney, resiny hops. The finish is strongly bittered by piney hops, and long lasting. The mouthfeel is medium/thick, and slightly syrupy. Decent, not quite up to the hype.
