I’m getting a fair amount of minimally sweet orange citrus flavor, but otherwise, it’s a pretty dry, lightly bitter beer with a gentle piny, hop flavor. Orange citrus in the nose as well. Very clean on the palate. Pale golden color, slightly hazy, with a standard off-white head that leaves some patchy lace on the glass. Interesting, and not bad at all, but it’s not a style of beer Ithat appeals to me.
07-Aug-05 (Draft: Deschutes Brewery in Bend, OR) A slightly more grainy and bolder bitter than their Old Eternal, this beer is a bit drier, less fruity, and more hoppy. Likewise, the nose is mostly grain and hops. Light-to-medium in body with a very clean mouthfeel and crisp finish. The small off-white head fully covers the dark straw-colored and hazy body. Decent, easy to drink, but not doing too much for me. BrewDad (2463), Olympia, Washington, USA

Pours a golden color with a nice whitehead. Great flavored beer with a little hoppy flavor also. Liked the underlying flavors at the end . This was a easy drinking beer for a hard days work. A nice summer beer and a good BBQ beer at that. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA

Starts bitter, but a lack of hops present in the taste gives it a thiner malty finish. Thanks so much to Indiana Red for rating #93(This tasty beer) evergreen0199 (342), London, Greater London, England

Sadly, best by 10-10-06 - oh well. Poured pale gold, small frothy white head. Light floral hop aroma, straw-like grain, some very mild funky UK hops hovering, trying to assert - almost more of a golden ale, a touch stale. Taste is a pleasant blend of sweet ripe apple, herbal hops and buttery malt - slightly bitter tinge to the quick finish. Very watery body, pretty flat, mildly astringent, not enough flavour profile to be crisp, but still quite clean. Decent. DuffMan (2867), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada

Hazy deep golden colour, aroma of sweet malts, slightly reedy, with lighter citrus peel notes. Lighter body, with the same slightly pithy citrus hop character. After having had a few good IPAs, I think my palate may have been a bit numb to this one! jcr (1229), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 22, 2005 Enjoyable ale with a nice balance of bitterness and sweetness. Poured a hazy amber, golden with a white head. The aroma hints at the taste: Malts and hops. The flavor was citrusy and sweet over the top of a strong, lingering bitterness from the hops. Medium, slightly clinging body that seems to be a characteristic of Deschutes. caesar (3080), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands
