India Pale Ale was developed in Burton, England, as a "Super-Premium" hoppy pale ale around 1800. The extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style developed a following worldwide. Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a big burst of dry-hop flavor from English Kent Golding Hops. It then finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness.

Big Swell IPA is a fresh handcrafted India Pale Ale brewed with huge amounts of American hops and malted barley...dry hopped to perfection!

Clipart can, golden clear ale. Big floofy head. Herbal, savory, katty hop aroma without a whole lot of esters. Liked the flavor on this one - dry, slightly resinous, cumin/chili powder tones. Not aggressively bitter. A little piney on the backend. Body is on the light side. Decent, functional, nothing earth-shattering. ABC Liquors, Betton.

12oz can. Pours a amber with a white head. After the porter and now this I have become a fan of Maui Brewing. An above average IPA this with plenty of citrus and pine notes the way I likes it. More of a west coast style than an English.

Pours slightly hazed deep gold into a tulip. White head with little retention recedes to nothing. Resin and tropical fruit aromas. Dry with sweet caramel and tropical fruit upfront turning to hot resin in the lasting finish.

Solid IPA. Citrus and some pine on the nose. Rich sweet malt up front. Bitterness is strong up front but mellows on the finish. Nice.

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. This beer is a clear golden yellow with a small white head. The aroma is full of hops. The taste is hop driven. A really good ipa.

12 oz can. New distribution to Florida. 2 month old canning date though. Pours a really nice looking copper orange color and topped by a small layer of off white foam that quickly settles to a thin film and leaves drippy legging on the glass. The aroma shows of citrus fruit with orange and grapefruit most prominent over a toasted caramel malt base. The flavor shows more juicy fruit with grapefruit, orange, and stone fruit followed by the toasted caramel, and ample hop bitterness on the back end. Medium bodied and smooth with balanced carbonation that leads to a bitter sweet finish. The hops have definitely faded in this one, but it’s still a well crafter and tasty IPA. Will have to rerate when I find a fresher can.

Can at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear light amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is big lemon citrus, light yeast. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a smooth citrus, woody big bitter hop palate with some light biscuit yeast notes. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a long lasting bitter finish. A super fruity super bitter IPA. I guess that’s the way they should all be!
