Very little carbonation or head but a subtle light brown lace coats the top on the first swill. Smell reminds me intially of a nice oyster stout with a seaweed finish.. The porter has a nice bitter taste with tons of flavor. Exceptional roasted flavor with a nice smokey taste that is not overbearing. Strength of porter could be a bit higher, but overall very drinkable. Can drink this porter anytime of year. Would go exceptionally well with a nice bowl of steamed oysters!

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 31, 2009 The aroma is roasted malt, with a grainy quality, coffee. Maybe a little bitter chocolate. the appearance is a dark brown, a little thin and translucent for the style, tan head. The flavor is cereal grains, rosated malts, coffee, sour milk. Not great. The finish has a slight bittering from the roasted malts. For this style, the mouthfeel is inappropriately thin/medium. I rarely find a porter I don’t like. This qualifies as such. But I’ve had worse. ChristianScheffel (4910), Odense, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 12, 2009 From a 12 oz bottle this poured a very dark garnet red with a very foamy head and thick lacing. This head lasted seemingly forever. A very attractive pour. Nose is chocolate, coffee, and nuts. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side but is nevertheless smooth . Flavor shows a lot of chocolate malts and the finish is dry. While on the light side for a porter it is quite easy drinking.
